revolutionz_s13's s13 coupe build, pic heavy (update 6-28)

Post by revolutionz_s13 »

Well, I finally started ordering parts for my car again. Its been sitting in storage for about the last 2 years, due to a checkbook drought :? , but now I have a new place with a heated garage and some decent income again. I'm going for at least 450whp on e85, would like to see 500whp, but that might be a stretch. I still need a whole grip of parts (and money) , but I think I have a pretty good start on it. On to the parts list/pics....

Powertrain
Wiseco Pistons, 9.0 comp
Eagle Rods
ACL bearings
ARP Main Studs
ARP head studs
JWT s1 camshafts
Koyo Radiator
Garrett GT3076R turbo, .82 a/r
Tanabe Concept G catback
Nismo motor mounts and trans mount
centerforce dual friction clutch
nismo 2way lsd
c's short shifter
dual 10" electric fans
Walbro fuel pump
JWT Cam Gears
Xcessive Windage Tray w/ crank scraper
ATI super damper crank pulley
Xcessive Intake Mani w/q45 flange and SS throttle cable bracket
Xcessive lowering motor mount brackets
Cometic Head Gasket
JGS turbo mani and oil lines
AEM Fuel Rail
BC springs and retainers
supertech valve seals
BC SS Valves, Std size

Suspension:
JIC flt-a2 coilovers
cusco front tie bar
Suspension Tech. F&R sway bars
spl tension rods w/ brake cooling air deflectors
spl ruca
sentra se-r brembo calipers
r32 skyline rear calipers (might sell and get ksports front and rear instead)
JIC front and rear strut bars
autopower race roll bar
tein tie rods
TechnoToyTuning subframe collars
Energy suspension poly bushings in the rest of the arms

Exterior
SSR Professor MS1 wheels 17x9,17x10 +24, 1/4" spacers on fronts
(Yes, they are 4 lug!)
front 255/40, rear 275/40
ARP wheel studs
Bomex front lip
silvia sideskirts

What I started with, about 5 years ago:
Image

Pulling old motor, tearing it down to send the block off, sanding it down for paint:

Block back from machine shop, car back from first attempt at paint, put on suspension parts, test fit wheels:

Bunch of the parts I have sitting in my bedroom, waiting to be bolted to something...(no longer have the emanage, sold it to get aem ems)
Image
Image

Parts I'm planning on collecting over the winter:
Vibrant intercooler
Synapse Synchronic WG and BOV
oil cooler
One piece steel driveshaft
ID 1000cc injectors
Spec aluminum flywheel
Spec Stage 3+ clutch
Circuit sports clutch pivot
AEM Coilpacks
AEM twinfire
AEM FPR
AEM EMS
AEM Wideband
Aeroquip -6 Fuel lines
Bosch 044 inline fuel pump (fed by in-tank walbro)
Apexi boost controller
Ksport 13" front and rear brakes

I also have some work to do in the interior, and plan on stitch welding most of the car and possibly doing tubs in the front.

Shooting to get it tuned next summer, and completely finished by next fall. Still needs alot of work, but I'll be starting on the money sucking piece of metal this week, and I'll post updates as I make progress on this current monstrosity.

Little update, did some work on the head over the weekend, took it all apart and smoothed out the intake runners and ports on the head a bit...didnt want to go too crazy since I dont have much experience, just wanted to smooth out the flashing from casting and take the roughness down a notch. Waiting on a some valve seals and it will all go back together hopefully towards the end of this week.

Small bit of progress here. Got some more parts, a Skullworks oil block adapter, some AEM pencil coils, an Aeromotive A1000 FPR, and a set of Supertech cam followers (lifters). I sent the head to the machine shop for a 3angle valve job, and then proceed to assemble the head. I also put the oil block adapter on and installed the Xcessive windage tray/crank scraper, and had to do only a slight amount of clearancing for the crankshaft. Im waiting for a couple more things, hopefully the longblock will be completely assembled in the next couple weeks.

So finally had some time over the last couple weeks to get some more done again. Started cleaning out the engine bay and taking out stuff I dont need anymore. I cut out the battery tray too, that sucked ass. Also pulled the engine bay harness out so I can go through it and check all the wires to make sure they are good, and to add wires I need, and take out ones I dont. I also got everything to start getting the motor more assembled. I was like a 2nd christmas over the last week, a bunch of parts came 8) I ran into a snag tonight, I need to get longer spacers made for the fuel rail, the ID1000 injectors + xcessive mani ends up with a much larger gap than what the spacers came with for the oem fuel rail. Pics!

Its gettin there slowly but surely, needs lots more time and money tho :? Feels good to be making progress again after a couple years of it sitting though. Comments, suggestions, and flames welcome :D

Damn, looks like a complete build with some good parts. Very nice, sir.

Can you PM me some info/measurements on that AEM fuel rail? I need a twin-feed rail, and that looks like it fits the bill without me having to do some chopping...

What size Injectors did you use? The 11mm or 14mm? Also are the the 48mm or 60mm Length? Looking to use an AEM Fuel rail also is why I ask and so far your the first person I've seen use an AEM Fuel Rail. gonna run the ID725's so I'd like to know what size Injectors you used.

they come as the 14mm/48mm, you will need to use the adapter they come with which will make them 11mm/60mm...however, the standoffs that the fuel rail comes with arent tall enough, so I had to go to a hardware store, find some aluminum tube, and make some custom length standoffs, IIRC mine were 2.5"...

So could I use an 11mm/48mm w/o needing Modded stands?

if you can get them like that, IIRC the ID injectors only come in 14mm/48mm, you need the adapter to make them 11mm...but im not 100% sure

Is there a noticeable difference after cleaning the intake manifold and exhaust ports performance wise? Just wondering

yeah, hit a prob tho and have to dissassemble the entire head. the valves sit too far into the head after the 3angle, and I cant get the valve lash within spec. I now have to take the valves out and have them machined down shorter in order to get all the clearances right... :x

Ah i've been there as well my friend! Def a pain in the ass to adjust the cam on bucket/puck set up.

I've been running JIC's for a good 4 years now and have been very happy with them, i'd recommend going with the flta2's (now i believe they are renamed fltaR's) great value coil for the price to say the least.

I dont know that there would be a huge difference in performance, but some gains from what I have read is it allows for a bit smoother airflow, and helps prevent some carbon buildup on the ports...
