this is a traditional build. almost everyone even myself goes with eagle rods and wiseco pistons. i plan on making 400hp with 750cc injectors at 80% duty cycle. for the price of the bottom end, this is cheapest you can go. roughly around 1200 for parts and labor for a built bottom end.

Sorry about the lack of pics everyone. Got things buttoned up to the point where I could start it yesterday. It's idling really high, around 3k and it dies if I don't crack the throttle. So I'm going to spend to day tracking down vacuum leaks and working on my battery relocation. Pics are coming today, I PROMISE.

If you could post thost that would be sweet. I didn't find any obvious vac leaks. At this point the car wont run long enough to check with conventional methods...unless someone is caressing the throttle. So far I've checked for leaks, went over all my grounds with sandpaper, checking wiring in general. Guess we'll see if that helps.

The maf is going through and s shaped bend that is a total of probably 12 inches. Also I can't seem to get my upper front cover to seal. This will be the 3rd time pulling it off. It's leaking out of the drver/lower side. I'm completely lost on this one. Never had this problem......I'm about to pull the set up and stick another running na in there.

just take a breather, and dont give up. just get Marcus over there and ya'll can figure it out. I'm prety sure its something minor or over looked. just take your time and it will come together. I know you, you probably already pulled the motor out.

Update.... LOST CAMERA, I'm pretty pissed about this. I had a lot of pictures from Iraq on this thing. I'll see about borrowing one tomorrow.

Car runs! Drove to the gas station. This motor I built had been taken apart before. First problem was an oil leak from the upper front timing cover, looks like the previous owner used a nail or small chissel to separate the cover from the head. The was remedied by getting another cover. After that, the water pump gave out while I was trying to get the car up to operating temp, no idea why....it was a rebuilt pump. Then after the car finally got up to temp and things started seating, it was very obvious I had some kind of vac leak. I went to work with some brake cleaner. Egr plate that previous owner installed didn't fit and was wedging itself against part of the casting. Did some precision work with the grinder and things are looking good. I'll install gauges tomorrow and see where I'm at.

Update

Post by 91white_ka »

Ok, so I'm still fight with vacuum leaks, Did away with the spark blow out by switching to BKR7E V-powers gapped at .25.....There's something else I'm missing. Oh yeah my freshly rebuilt turbonetics has blades scraping the housing. Contacted the guy and he said the previous owner had it rebuilt so I'm kind of SOL on this one. It's just sad that 500 doesn't even get you 20 miles...

Not a real big deal though because I have a few turbos laying around. One is a smaller ballbearing t3, again "freshly rebuilt" but after further inspection of this one the 63 a/r hot side has a round inlet flange, looks like it's for a dsm or something. My other two options are a garrett gt3582r or a turbonetics 62-1....
