KA-T: Resurrection

Post by north »

So, after purchasing this car and having nothing but hassle, it has been decided to redo EVERYTHING the prior owner did so horribly. And everything that should have been done, but wasn't.

Starting with the frame, lots of rust to be fixed, holes in the floor, and rot on the rails. Also strut tower rust. Radiator support converted into a V-mount setup due to needing to replace the entire support anyway. Motor will be pulled, all the rust repaired, and frame/body/engine bay painted.

No Pictures yet.
Videos of before/after the pull can be found at the following links, however they are not landscape due to me not remembering to rotate my iphone...its new. Better picture/video will follow.

Before Pull, some rust knocked out.

After Pull, 2.5 hours later

Start of disassembly

Yeah lots of work. Not much time for pictures haha. The passenger side will be worked on tonight, not sure if it will be finished or not, and the interior was pulled earlier. Currently the car has some braces going through it and is hanging from a rig we made...not the safest setup, but it's working so far.

Picking up a CLEAN shell instead (with a running SOHC). The more we ground off the more rot we found. Prior shell is toast. New shell pic below. Buying it off a friend.

Yes SAFC...It can at least be setup to keep fuel where it needs to be until I can get Nistune. Everything came with the car for 1000$. I did not put the setup together, or it would have had Nistune from the start.
