So, as far as I've read...you were overheating for about a mile. Noticed a puddle of coolant under your car, found a line leaking and replaced it. Ran it for 30 minutes with the bleed screw off and to get all of the air out and now it only overheats while driving.

When, bleeding for air bubbles, do exactly what you've been doing but rather than the over flow cap just leave the rad cap off and bleed screw open while adding fluid until its free of air bubbles. Honestly, I also do not run a thermostat but that's because I'm in FL.

If your car still overheats, I would make 100% sure there are no more leaks because I'm sure you know coolant just doesn't vanish and unfortunately if it does, that usually leads to a headgasket :crying-yellow:. I've ran into this issue and then finally noticed I had the smallest leak coming from the hole on the bottom of my water pump and replaced that and bled all the air and fixed all my issues.

If there are no more leaks, do a compression test because another instance I found a slight leak thru my headgasket which hopefully you don't have because I think I saw someone say you just recently replaced it. If you did, and didn't get your head/block decked along with the timing covers that could be your issue, worse case scenario.

Hopefully, this helps because you've definitely helped me with my timing issues and I'd like to return the favor.

Thanks man, I appreciate you.

I tried so hard to bleed the system, but thermostat just didn't want to open. I decided to pull it out. The car doesn't over heat anymore. Problem solved until next winter :P

Wow! thats amazing! I'd say its getting to the point of at least looking for tire options, but geez, hah, I would at least switch that wheel/ tire to one of the rears so if it does blow at least you'd still be able to steer.

Well I've decided to start getting the body put together. I dropped the car off to get the front end welded and put together. After that's done, I can finally get some big wheels and start having some real fun.

I know, it takes the fun out of it. With all the trouble you've been going through, I'm surprised youre still keeping it going. I sometimes think its time to buy something nice and let this car go, but then I think of how much work I've put into it and I change my mind.
I think eventually ill get it to where Iwant it, iit'll just take time.

So, what kind of wheel options were you looking into after the front end is all finished up at the welder?

my front fenders are +30mm wider, so Im looking for something around 10 or 11 inches wide with a 0 offset or even maybe negative. Im not good at wheel at all, so I have no idea really. I am also thinking about going with 30mm wider rear overs to get a wider rear wheel also. I was looking at charge speed since they are the only over fenders that cover the entire rear. They are expensive though, but I will pay if they are what I like.

I am still keeping my options open though, if you have any suggestions.

I arrived at school(15 miles from home) and I looked under the car and there was coolant everywhere. I looked all over the coolant system and found a hissing and steam coming out of the radiator. What could cause this you ask?

I've had that in the back of my mind also, I just don't want it to be true. I just replacedmy hg, so if it is blown again, i really domt know why that could be. Compression test will be done tomorrow if i can find my compression tester.

Well, hopefully its not the HG.

If it is though, HG could be a number of things, but I'd lean towards one or more of the cylinders running hot due to the coolant challenges mentioned earlier.

Some other things I would also look at would be:
- Octane rating (if this is too low, fuel mixture could predetonate as a result of heat and compression before the sparkplug fires)
- timing (for similar reasons)
- sparkplug(s) (rating possibly too "hot", possibly causing predetonation from their heat, before their spark; or their gap size)
- A/F ratios too lean (across all cylinders, making one or more cylinders too hot)
- semi-clogged fuel injector(s) (causing one or more cylinders to run too hot)

I cold compression checked my cylinders just now:

Looks like something damaged that area of the radiator. I will have to pad it up to make sure it doesn't happen again. In the meantime, jb weld!!! :P

Man that's a bummer, just my 2 cents, but JB might make a proper fix more difficult. But I understand wanting to the car back on the road ASAP. I would probably try to correct those fins as much as possible too.

Did it happen workin on the car? I know it's a pain to drain it but it doesn't take long to pull the radiator. I guess the job that you're doing will determine if it's worth it.

This happened while I was driving, I found a puddle of coolant on the floor and now I know why.
Ya, I just pulled the radiator out. I probably shouldve just had it welded, but I needed a car to get to school tomorrow and this is all I have :/ Im going to try to find a stock radiator from somewhere and have this aluminum one fixed while the stock one is in the car. It's such a pain, but it is what it is.
