So heres the first one we made, just used re-bar and a small bucket and used an old battery charger to supply current to it (12V). All you need to do is add sodium bicarbonate to the water in the bucket which is the fancy name for washing soda. Honestly im amazed at how well it works you guys should really try it if you havent. Its basically free and in a matter of a couple days you can have an old rusty part looking practically new. Plus theres nothing to worry about, could leave it in there for weeks and it wouldn't cause any pitting etc just DONT put aluminium or chrome pieces in it. (From what I heard it will pit it and produce poisonous gases and considering aluminum doesn't rust there should be no reason to put it in there anyways)
As you can see all the rust basically "melting" off
The second one we made was out of a long rubber made following the same principle, I use that for big pieces that wont fit in the small tank. I know its pretty basic but any questions feel free to pm
that looks crazy bro, id be afraid of creating something like that haha
Picked up my parts today and brought them to the machine shop. Christmas came early!
Nissan OEM Oil Pump and Front Cover, OEM Water Pump, Eagle Rods, Arp main and Head Bolts, Wiseco Pistons 0.020 over and Walbro 400LPH Fuel Pump (Didn't realize how small it was lol)
Got some 30mm Aluminum Z32 calipers last night. Took them apart after work and took all the paint off on the wire wheel. Going to rebuild em even though they are fine and going to powdercoat them.
Got my main and crank bearings and stainless steel brake lines for z32 swap in yestarday. Ordered white bunny 6 puck clutch kit so I can bring the flywheel and crank pulley down to the machine shop to get everything balanced. Hopefully I dont have a problem with that flywheel and z32 starter location. Cams and head goodies shoild be coming in this week too
signals13 wrote:Nice I see that magnetic drain plug I need to get one of those
Hah yeah exactly. Figure its a good idea and cheap assurance. I wonder why barely any production cars have em. Majority of transmissions at work have magnrtic drainplugs
Going to be un-insuring the car probably next week and then get it setup in my makeshift garage. Anyone have any experience in working under a portable garage? Basically a big tent with metal framing?? I think I'll dig down a bit and lay some sand then a big sheet of plastic then more sand on top then gravel (hopefully that will stop moisture coming from underneath). And I'll lay some paving stones under the engine bay and wheels. I'll post a picture of what I'm working with on the weekend and open to suggestions and advice. Apart from that been getting dicked around buy a fellow ka-t'er that I bought a whole bunch of head items off the sale section. Hopefully it comes through and he just overlooked it and didn't get scammed. We will see...fingers crossed though..or I guess I'll have to make a claim through paypal.
Nice build. Very thorough - just the way I like them! Glad to see you're liking the electrolysis method. I was going to set up a rig in my garage but I wasn't to keen on the wait time for the overall process. I've been getting people to sand blast some parts for me but that's becoming a real pain in the butt. I'm getting a sand blasting cabinet this week to hopefully cut down some time on my project. Good luck with yours! You're on the right path, that's for sure my friend.
PM me if you're interested in getting something powder coated!

Thank you sir! Yeah to get a good result its best to keep it in there for a decent amount of time. I did my crank pulleys the other day and they came out really good in two days so it wasn't bad. I feel you though defiantly if you have access to sand blasting thats the way to go considering its done in a matter of minutes and no scraping lol. What cabinet are you going to get? Im thinking I might invest in one next year.

It was a rush buy and I mainly got it for the flywheel cause I'm on a deadline to get a flywheel to the machine shop to finish balancing everything. I know it'll end up slipping but ill swap it out once I get everything going. I just got the 6 puck comp clutch white bunny:
So finally got my cams and head bits in a few days ago. Kelford 272 Stage 2 Cams, Brian Crower Valve springs, Brian Crower +1 Exhaust and intake valves, Brian Crower valve springs & Titanium retainers, Brian Crower Valve guides, Supertech cam followers and valve seals. Also got my clutch in 6 puck comp clutch white bunny kit. Blocks rotating assembly should be balanced in a few days and I'll start farting around with oil clearances. Been super swamped with school already so this semester should be fun (mechanical engineering)
signals13 wrote:Nice I love having a bunch of new parts to install, is that a maxx copper exhaust gasket? We have the same one lol
Yeah its awesome I tend to start studying and then get distracted and start poking around in the parts pile lol. I got the Mr. Gasket one off enjuku http://www.enjukuracing.com/products/Mr ... A24DE.html I think there exactly the same to the maxx
awesome build bro! we share few similar parts in our build. where you get those supertech cam folllowers? what timing chain kit are you planning to run oe?

Oh and I got the followers off the for sale section here with all the other head items
*EDIT* This is where I was looking at them initially and they were in stock..there defiantly a good idea when running aggressive cams to prevent the possibility of tossing a shim and there super durable
What color now fellas? (my buddy thinks I should polish them leave it raw with red nissan writing..I was thinking more along the lines of purple and white
