1998 Deep Fuschia Kouki

Post by sm240sx »

Hey guys this is my first build thread

this is my ride, ive had several 240sx's before but this one was unique.

I bought it off an old lady for 3,000. it had 150k original miles single owner
1998 deep fuschia ls1 color code.
It was completely mint but the downside was that it was automatic :(
I first just wanted to do the 5 spd conversion and dump it..but things change.. scroll down and look at the picture story lol.

Mad credit to the TTG boys, theyre the brains of the operation!

Image
after i bought the lip

Image
got a good deal on a motor and pieced the 5 spd swap together so decided to get rid of the old..and...put in another ka..with lower miles :werd:

Clean clean clean! What are you going with for internals? What kind of numbers are you shooting for? I am in the same boat as you right now. Dropped in a motor, it went pop and now I'm looking to build it up.

Nice car,man that 150k mile engine was probably ready for some boost with a proper tune if it was running like a champ I wolda kept that kinda hard to trust peoples(said) lower mileage engines now a days,I bought a complete engine for complete rebuild was told just blew a head gasket so I start tearing it down for machine shop well I find out it has been boosted and detonated bad, piston melted, head damaged so I chunked all of that took block to machine shop and find out its cracked. But new parts are nice to get in the mail and fun go watch it all come together and take pride in all your hard work good luck with the build and look forward to seeing where this goes.
New turbo setup build in progress-11mm headstuds/cometic head gasket/jwt cam gears added,prec. 6266,gato mani,prec.46mm wg,bigger fmic,mspnp2,z32 trans,spec twin,q45 rear,full energy bushings. Still need injectors,and a few other small things

Old setup-ka24de-wiseco 9:1 pistons,eagle rods,arp studs,jwt s1 cams,brian crower springs and retainers,jgs log mani,t3 57trim .63 a/r,tomei 740cc,38mm turbonetics evolution wastegate,synapse bov,ebay fmic,nistune,j30 lsd.5 speed swap,z32 brakes F&R.

I'm trying to shoot for atleast 300 at first with a gt28 setup.
As for internals I'm gonna go with cp stock bore pistons 9.0.1 , eagle rods, arp rod bolts, head studs , ACL main and rod bearings

Yeah man , getting rid of that motor is one of my regrets.. It's hard to trust people with what they try to sell

Yeah man, I've had many sr s before but it's just a huge waste of money to be. The KA Is so abundant. It'll be my first turbo ka build and hopefully it all goes well! I'm not cutting any corners especially tuning wise.

Nice man! while you have the housing off that transmission replace that output shaft bearing down from the speedo gear. Atleast SKF or better.. hopefully better. Prominently the most worn bearing on our 240's (atleast from the 5 or so tranny's I've been through) and so easy to replace.

Excited to see the next step in your build!

What does vat mean? and thanks im going to use the standard size bearings for now since I didnt have any rod knocks or spun bearings. the motor was running before it pulled it apart, its just that the head gasket went bad and I put her down before i caused any damage :violin:
