i may have some K1 rods up for sale, I consulted my machinist and he says that the manley rod is probably ok and to bring it to him. If it is ok, I will reuse the manleys.

What do yall think about $250 for 4 good forged rods with ARP bolts? or trade with some cash for 4 BIG injectors. I am going to run e85. this engine will never see pump gas again.

Yup, needs a lot of work. I feel like ever since it got this conversion, supposedly an "update" its gone downhill fast...There isn't even a front page or one image on this site lol. It's kinda pathetic actually and unfair for how much info is stored in this forum.

I miss the old ka-t.org with the home page and the videos and apparel ect. I was gone for many years during this time what exactly happened to it?

Got one good transmission built from two, I dont know if the s14 was bad or not but I think it was making a loud grinding noise on decel at 2100-2600 rpm. I used the bell housing from the s14 trans because it has the crank position sensor, the s13 doesnt. So I basically just used the internals from the s13. Got the block cleaned up and painted aluminum(wolf in sheep's clothing, haha). Going to deglaze the cylinders tomorrow, pistons in the mail on the way. Only thing now to order is a new oil pump, wont be using the old one, I dont think it was at fault for the spun bearing but im not taking chances.

I thought that it was the dizzy wheel as the trigger. I dont know how you could use the teeth of the flywheel as trigger wheel? :?

Correct. Using the bell housing sensor is not doable unless you make a huge wheel for it. Your trigger comes from the CAS wheel in dizzy.

yeah but why is there a sensor there. I mean without a missing tooth or something how would that sensor know the physical position of the flywheel? because thats what it detects, the flywheel teeth.

It is only used for diagnostics. It probably has some algorithm to use the cas location to know tdc and uses ring gear as trigger/teeth to count then uses that to tell the stock ecu which cylinder is having issues.

I scored an RB25 clutch and flywheel on ebay for 60 bux, hell yeah!! Ill see if the pressure plate will fit in the KA housing. If not, I know the 350z kit fits so thats what ill do. Probably will be selling the KA light flywheel and clutch kit. $150 will take it. It only has 1200 miles on it.

It will fit. Don't worry. May need to grind down the dust shield if the back of fw is not recessed.

Well I guess as many as I can lol. I will just be taking it much easier on the motor and I will backing the limiter back down to 6500. Im not building a race car, I just want a car that I can have fun in.

Well got some work done tonight, got cylinders honed, some parts cleaned, rings gapped and installed.

Ordered some parts and tools to disassemble the head and am going to port match and polish the head. Oh yaaay! Ha!

per suggested math on the Wiseco instruction sheet: 89.5mm / 25.4 = bore in inches 3.5236 then X by performance factor for turbo/nitrous which is 0.0050 for top which = 0.0176 and 0.0055 for second = 0.0193 I rounded up slightly to .018 for top gap and .020 for second gap.

Same ring gap I run. If you want more than 550whp, add on more thou. But 500whp in a 510 is crazy. Good work gapping.

Just took entire rotating assembly to Race Engine Design in Roseville GA. Highly recommended shop, they walked me through their huge shop, they showed me their computerized crank balancer, they said if necessary they will grind instead of drill to balance, cool. Rb25 will be refaced and crank is getting a micro polish. They said 3-4 days, hell yeah!!!

Well I guess 3-4 days was optimistic, lol. I figured that was too fast for a good shop. Should have it Wednesday though.

Anyway, was just fooling around dreaming, haha

Thanks shift! Got some port matching done, taking it really slow, I am practicing on the manifold first, I have port matched the upper and lower plenum, and have started matching the manifold where it bolts to the head. I have put about 2 hours into it so far, and haven't even touched the head, it kind of feels like an art. I am enjoying immensely but it sure is darn messy!

In having trouble deciding what clutch setup to go with. I almost wish nissan wasn't so interchangeable lol. Well I know that I'm running an rb flywheel so that leaves me with an rb or a Z clutch. I want the bigger disc that the Z offers but there is a substantial market/price difference. For instance I can purchase an ACT 4 puck for just under 3 bills for the RB but the ACT setup for the Z is $700 and the only damn difference is 1 cm in diameter of the clutch disc, same pressure plate. That's just stupid! So I'm thinking about buying the ACT disc I want and grabbing an exedy HD pressure plate. Another option is the SPEC stage 3 for the Z and that's $325 , very reasonable, I just want the best for my application. I want great feel but high performance and ACT seems to be able to deliver that. I am willing to let some drivability go for a reliable clutch that won't rattle my trans to pieces. I would ultimately like a full disc that can hold 500+ft/lbs. I know that would have a heavier clutch but I'm ok with that, I'm 6' and 210lbs and I can handle a stiff clutch, and it's not a daily driver but I like to drive it to work about half the time. Anyway as you can see it's far more complicated than it should be, lol. I would appreciate any relevant input. My goal is around 500bhp... Id like to keep it below $500 for the pressure plate and disc.

Also is there such thing as a 6 puck disc that doesn't chatter

I am using a Z32 n/a Stage 4 ACT clutch. 4 puck unspring which is rated at 515 ft/lbs. I can drive with no chatter. Just tap the gas and release the clutch until it engages.

Well I have decided to go with a competition clutch stage 3 with full faced ceramic pad disc, rated at 500 ft/lbs. picked up the rotating assy and it looks awesome, the entire assembly is zero gram balanced, which means that it is as close to perfectly balanced as humanly possible. You can see in one of the pics that some of the drill spots would remove at most a gram or two. So rods pistons pully and flywheel are all neutrally balanced and ready to rev happily.

Got some porting started on the head, the manifold is done minus some light sanding/polishing. Soon after starting the head I burned out my dremel 3000. Pulled it apart to find everything including brushes looking good, so the variable switch was burned out, so ordered two incase I do it again. No waiting on a stupid switch. Anyway here's some pics.

just picked up some ID1000 squirters for stupid cheap, hell yeah!!! what kind of power can I expect out of injectors of this size? I want to run E85 and I know that more fuel is required to achieve stoich. I want to hit at least 400whp. The only piece of the puzzle ill be missing is cams. Im getting to that though. After I get this motor back in and running solid, I will pull the trigger on some big cams. But anyway, all mods aside, can I safely make 400 ponies with 1000cc squirters?
