Gotenks64's ongoing build

Post by Gotenks64 »

original had my thread on 240sxforums but I feel as this community is more helpfully and has deeper knowledge basis. So this is a trek back to Feb2011, when I first got this s13 up until now …enjoy.

AS IT SITS NOW

I am still hooking up the VAC lines and I have to bend the brake lines for the pathfinder MBC, I was having a problem of the brakes locking up. As it is now I have installed z32 VLSD, j30 axles, Q45 front brakes.

nice, ya i was reading through the build in your sig. was hoping to find details on your vac rig for ventilation. if you have any details, part numbers pictures etc id be interested.

it also appears you have an he351 not an hy35. the 351 non ve is a 4mm bigger compressor inducer on the exact same turbine wheel in a slightly tweaked housing. apparently you can slide a 351 cartridge into a hy housing so i am looking to do this eventually.

And this is why I wanted to post my thread here! lol Yeah once I get a chance I will post it up. But I am going to be using a crankcase vacuum emissions pump off a 93-95 firebird,Camaro or Trans AM. I got that turbo from a member here on the forum he lives by be locally.

So what do you guys like about the he351 and what will changing it up do? I'm really leaning towards one when I upgrade

It spools at like 3200 RPMs. The exhaust side is a t3 flange, so it spools super quick. The turbos are durable, and I haven't had any issues out of it. I only plan to run mine a 12-15 psi max..... without a dyno tune.

Depends on front cover to really tell. If the compressor housing has a regular nipple then 341.
351 left...341 right.

oh ohhh. thanks supa. so the 341 is essentially an asthetically redesigned hy and the 351 is actually bigger compressor parts.

The 341 is 56/60/9cm^2 and 351 is 60/60/9cm^2. I do not know the power output of the 341 though. I haven't read solid threads or graphs.

does that stuff have a thick layer of rubbery adhesive like Dynamat sound deadening material? Good find, really clean bay and engine btw. Did you fab that manifold up yourself??

Yeah it does! Its so cheap too. I didnt I bought it off a guy here. It is great I made a run with it today. I need to tune for the extra air at idle though.

yeah that looks like a damn good alternative :) Some of the stuff Ive bought in the past was probably made by the same company with their logo stamped on it and charge you double as much lol

More then likely thats what they have been doing lol.

Update:I took the car out for a drive yesterday. The waste gate is has an 8 pound spring in it, but my gauge is reading about 5 psi, Still fun a hell only with this amount of boost. The custom brake lines and the pathfinder MBC are working well, I also can squeeze a heat shield in there too! my brakes stopped boiling finally, I am trying to find a place to mount the Vacuum for the PVC, as of now the PVC is just open. Does anyone know where to get an oil sending unit that last? The one I have from pro sport isn't functioning properly.

Thanks! I'll look into that one. Another question. I have no IAVC with this manifold. I have the throttle plate cracked open. Do I need to adjust the TPS any? I am trying to get the idle perfect, but these 264/264 are proving difficult; or I just am use to the stock sounding cams and they are fine.

Does your rpm jump around at idle? Let's say +-400rpm. I never had 264 on chipped ecu. I would readjust the tps to voltage is getting excessive idle fluctuation.

Its more of a +-50 rpm variation. And it will do a slight bog down/pop. I have it set at about 900 rpms at idle. I am going to make a video tonight to try to get a better description of what is happening.

Yeah yesterday I found that my FPR had a check valve on.. so when I removed it I shot the video. Glad its sounding normal. I am going to try to bleed it today and mess around withe the Vacuum pump as well. As of right know the PCV valve was removed, and an open fitting is connected too it.

Did you plug up holes on the runners that connected to the pcv?

That manifold I have is custom. It has all the PCV ports welded up and the butterflies removed and welded up as well!much better air flow. I had to adjust the idle Air fuels.

Yea we can see it is custom but we do not see any pics of the runners? Just trying to make sure you do not pressurize the crank.

Awesome build man! Nice to have another ka on here with a he341. Thanks for the specs also supakat , I've never found much specs on the he341. So just to be clear is that to mean the compressor is a .56 ar .60 trim and 9cm2 turbine? Anymore specs you know I'm sure more than a few of us here would be glad to hear:)
I haven't been able to tune my ebc yet but with just my external wastegate seeing comp pressure (so no added help staying shut on 6-7psi spring) I was seeing 6psi at 2900rpm, is that about what you get or do you not see anything till the 3200rpm you mentioned?

I am going to check it out! I Am only seeing like 5 psi since the waste gate is hooked directly to the turbo housing. I haven't actually checked the logs to see exactly when it hits lol.
