Duron's $$$ at Work

Post by duncan351 »

After many years I finally was impressed with ProEFI enough to take the financial plung and convert the S14 to E85. Hoping to joint the 800hp club in the near future. I spoke to alot of the high powered S14 and discovered a common problem with fuel starvation after a using the factory tank. I wanted to only use the factory tank without getting to far outside factory parameters. Here are pics of my fuel setup using the Power Hungry Performance Hat and making the two Walbor 450 pumps fit in the tank. More to come just been busy with work.

Nice coils. These 450lph Wally's are good. No issues. You should be more than able to reach your goal. What did you do with the motor? I know you broke it down recently.

popped a head gasket due to using roll loc pads to clean the surface so many times the head was actually wavy. Had to machine .011 off. I was tired of popping head gaskets on pump gas every now and then over the years and finally decided to convert the car to E85 along with Z32 tranny and drop my gears with upgraded axles and hubs. Just decided to do everything at once and never look back.

True. Best upgrades I did was MS Standalone and z32 gearbox. Just make sure to get Mazworx kit. Besides forged bottom and 12mm studs, did you go 10.5:1 cr? You will love the corn especially when the price drops. I paid $2.14/gal last night.

Have you tunned yet..?? How much timing are you pulling back per PSI..?? I do hear that E85 loves timing, just not sure how much it actually likes or how much it can really handle...

Had some ignition issues with the ProEFI and the CAS trigger wheel. Ordered a new one and will install it to try to resolve issue. Will report back once the issue is resolved.

What better time to build my high compression motor with the custom pistons. Now this motor should make a little extra power.

Oh hell yes! I'd love to have an intake manifold like that instead of my Xcessive one. Couple of questions:

1. What pistons are those? 11:1 CR?
2. What head studs will you be using on this motor? Same 11mm L19 with time serts again? I've got to pull my motor to figure out why my compression is so low and it did so poorly on a leak down test. I'm considering doing the 11mm L19s with time serts or having the head and block drilled and tapped to use the 12mm RB26 head studs.
3. Where did you get those little aluminum pieces (circled) to mount the fuel line to the bottom of the Walbro and on the fuel sock?
Image

BTW, thanks for taking the time to explain a few things about the fuel setup the other day. I'm on the right track now. I just need to figure out what's wrong with this d@mn motor and get it fixed so I can start throwing parts on and boosting.

Looking good..... are you gonna be running staged injection? What injector size?

Any specs or contact info for the intake manifold flange?

The pistons are some custom pistons I had made by Wiseco 10.5:1 compression, running New 11mm L19 head studs with Time certs again(This is a new block). The aluminum pieces I bought from Powerhouse racing. You just have to ask for them.

As for the fuel injectors, I''m running Bosch 2000cc injectors. The secondaries, I am going to weld them up. I bought this intake from a fellow member here year ago and finally going to use it.

So that baller intake manifold didn't fit for crap on stock engine mounts. A good friend of mine is modifying the intake for me now. Meanwhile I had to relocate the fuse box and fabricated my own washer fluid reservoir.

Its amazing what an intake manifold and high compression can do.... 684hp @ 33 psi with stock intake and over the counter Weisco pistons. I had a few bugs so had to cut the tuning short but stopped here for now.

Here are some Engine Bay pics finished. My TPS sensor is reversed and to reverse the signal to the computer I switched the polarity by changing the power and ground signals and it worked however the voltage value constantly is changing which would make you logically think the tps is physically moving but it honestly doesn't seem like it is. I have also lock tight the throttle plate stopper but it still changes. I have also done a sweep slowly to make sure the TPS is working properly and it does sweep evenly. This is also the 2nd TPS because I thought it was a bad Tps but same thing. Is there a nissan tps that work reverse without having to be modified?

Looking good, brother. I had the same issue with the TPS sensor on that same throttle body. I also tried reversing it and it didn't work correctly. My solution was to break out the Dremel, make a little hole, and then mount it "upside down"...

Image

It has worked perfectly like that for over 5 years. I think I looked at the possibility of taking apart the throttle body and reversing everything and it either seemed like too much work.... or possibly there was another issue that I saw with doing that. It's been so long that I really don't remember the exact reason. It was either laziness or something... more... technical...?!?

adamky, its guys like you and a few others why I stay on this forum. I really wish more members would get back involved in this forom Great info, and a simple fix that I just never thought to do. Great creativity!

Now as soon as Kedbmx gets done with my ignition coil bracket I can turn the boost up some more and get more tuning done. I'm sure he will get it done. I'm just excited to get back on the dyno to finish tuning the car.
