2nd time around

Post by cham »

I Just planned on building the head and making sure the bottom was still good. I ended up getting it a full build. I'm switching clutches and getting my aem v2 installed. Kedbmx made the coil pack sub harness and bracket. Thanks for the hook up.

I like everything except the part about you switching to a Kouki front end. Zenki > Kouki, all day, erry day

Also, what coil packs are those and what size injectors?
Wiseco/Eagle, JWT S1 cams, BC valve springs, PT5857, ID1700 injectors, SR20DET ECU w/ Nismotronic, COP conversion with LS ignition coils, etc, etc...

I have $340 literally in the front. Paid $150 for the lights then $150 for a pair of fenders and then $40 for the hood from a pick and pull. The injectors are 1100cc hi impedance with plug and play connectors. The coil packs are honda k series. It's the exact same setup as kedbmx. Witch is why I had him make me the bracket and coil sub harness. They're 3 wire smart coils that are hot enough to support over 1,000hp. Stock Denso coils

Shouldn't have any spark blow out and won't have to run small plug gaps anymore

That KA looks like it means business. Care to go over your ignition setup? Do you have any pictures from the install? It looks really good, almost stock-like! I'm using the same ECU in my project. Good luck with the project, looking forward to the updates!

I was constantly playing around with my plug gaps. I was on a 2 map ecu done by Martin at rs enthalpy. E85 or 93. I loved the e85. I kept having spark blow out from time to time. I knew I wanted more power and a bigger turbo one day. So I talked to supakat and a few more members running different coil packs. I wanted good coils plus neatness. So i asked kedbmx making 900hp what coils did he run...simply a stock denso 3 wire smart coil from a honda k20 engine. Cheap from ebay and every auto store has them. KedBMX made me a harness and bracket and labeled all the wires. It will be hooked the aem ems v2.

Good to see info on the coils, I too have an aem v2 and am gathering research for the conversion, if you have even more details on the conversion, that would be amazing. I started blowing out spark at around 15 psi (Precision 6262) with whatever gap my NGKs came with.

From what I understand it's a simple hook up to the aem. The pin out shows where all the connections should hook up to the aem. Then that's all you have to do is match the wire to the pin hole witch your factory harness will already have its wire there already. So I assume you have to splice your harness and solder the new wire on ..since other sensors will need to be done also, I'm just gonna drive the car to what ever shops gonna tune it with my rs ecu and then havr them hook up the aem with everything. Not unless a member here wants to walk me through the wiring process. I can solder and read pin out charts. Just don't know where the best place is to tie everything in.

Hrt performance built it in chapel hill Nc. The guy is good but he's currently working alone. It took 4 months and a million phone calls to get it done. I hope its worth the wait.

Is it just the angle of the photo, or do the rods have some heat discoloration near the wrist pins?

It could be the photo or it could be the rod. I do know if anything was damaged in the engine it didn't get reused.he sent bearings back and switched pistons on account of a few scratches. Joey is really anal being he's worked on race teams and built Nascar engines. His saying is if we're not gonna do it right, then he's not doing it. Everything gets checked with the tear down and inspection. Good thing is I didn't send the engine to a machine shop then to another for assembly. He has all the machines and he done the assembly. I had my oil pan off to put on a new gasket and all the rods still looked brand new.

Just paid over $60 for both wastegate clamps. Paid another $40 for a custom dump pipe made by turbo dave. Used for a short amount of time. Got a Mr gasket copper exhaust gasket ordered. All I need to do this week is have a stainless clutch cable and turbo drain line made. The clutch will be here by Wednesday and the fw by friday. I hope to have the car fired up saturday. Hopefully I'll be taking the enthalpy tune out and getting the aem v2 installed after I'm done with Christmas shopping. I probably won't even drive the car until that happens.

Yup take your time and make sure everything is good before driving. See if someone can give you a good base map so you can drive to dyno and make sure all is well before you go dyno.

Tried cranking the engine for the 1st time tonight and the plugs are getting soaked with fuel. Timing pin lines up with the right mark at tdc. Where do I start? Plugs are firing

Dizzy was off. Now the only problem I have is my new aem wide band won't read until I give it throttle past 2,000rpm. My old aem may have been good. I had the same problem. The bung is at the bottom of the down pipe turned up at a 10 degree angle. I've turned the calibration to every setpoint.

Decided to move my fpr. As I took off the feed line I noticed a piece of black rubber stuffed in the hole. No lie. The rubber had the same print as the old school kick ball. Where the heck did this come from? I have no idea how long it's been there. My car runs fine.

20151112_165229.jpg
Finally got the car off jack stands and back home. Due to the dizzy being off, the car wouldn't start at 1st. But what it did do is dump fuel that made its way to the oil pan so my 1st oil change came immediately after I started it up and realized what had happened. Since then I've had 3 oil changes. I let the car run at 2000rpm several times for about 20 mins on jack stands. I've driven the car 10mins not in boost and I shift gears b4 3000rpms. Today I noticed that famous churning sound that comes from the front timing cover or top area. Should I be worried about this. The exhaust is louder than my engine so it is pretty quite compared to b4. I drove the car home with the enthalpy tune tuned for a lower compression with stock head. Now my compression is 9:1 with a built head stage 2 cams. The afr reads a Lil leaner so I'm parking it until the aem goes in. I noticed on the last setup my afr gauge didn't move until I hit the throttle. Same thing happens with my brand new gauge. It's aem and it is at a 10 degree angle with the white wire hooked to the white wire on the stock o2 sensor plug. Martin said it hardly ever reads at idle. But if I wanted him to add more fuel down low just to see a reading it would throw to much fuel up high when I go into boost. What do you guys think about all of this long ass story? Will the fuel and oil mix cause problems later? Why have I had problems with 2 wide bands? The sensor is beside the tranny and I have zero leaks.
