Been ka-t and on these forums for a while. Time for a picture thread..
Bought car in 2007. Moved across country to California, was no going ka-t there because of emissions.
Fast forward to 2015, two kids, and another cross-country move later, time to ka-t on the semi-cheap.
Pictures and mods are from the 9 years of ownership.
Head gasket replaced in 2009 with Felpro and used ARP studs (Saturn ones)
Nistune
White Bunny Competition Clutch
370cc injectors
N60 MAF
ISIS Turbo kit (minus turbo)
11-12 PSI on S14 Journal Bearing T28 rebuilt (started with T25)
Hallman MBC
Turbosmart BOV Recirc'ed (1g dsm bov leaked under >8psi)
Q45 brakes
J30 Diff
Koni yellows
Megan Racing Springs
LC2 wideband (replaced half working lc1)
Koyo Radiator
ISIS 3" mbse cat-back
Whiteline Rear Sway Bar
ISR Front Sway Bar
Short Shifter
Energy Suspension Polyurethane kit (seriously all but 2 bushings)
Gutted interior (tar, rear seat, carpet, power antenna removed)
Quest Alternator
--------------
Head gasket replacement
---------------
Upgraded clutch prior to turbo'ing (well actually because I managed to snap front shaft cover and upgraded at same time)
-----------------
Pretty pipes
-----------------
Recirc'ed 1G DSM BOV (later upgrade to turbosmart bov)
-----------------
Worked hard on my gauge setup (off one is wbo2)
------------------
Old picture, but still how it looks today. No stickers/wings etc.. Catches people by surprise..
--------------------
Not many vacuum lines in my car..
--------------------
More or less how Engine bay looks today.
Future plans?
Near future:
Have Z32 maf I need to put on. Need to buy larger injectors. Maxing out both injectors and MAF in weather <35'ish degrees F in 4th gear.
Buy a bigger turbo? GT2860R or something, would like one that is <1000
Long term:
Thinking about going e85 but only 1 place around here and would have to get new engine management so I could do flex-fuel tuning since E85 quality is getting more and more sketchy.
Probably T3 at some point like everyone, but love daily driving the t2 seutp.

Modded ISR Downpipe with some flex pipe for better fit.
Oil feed/return setup a combo of jecs/amazon/autozone parts. VDO pressure sensors/gauges. -----------------------
Added another o2 sensor bung to dump pipe so I can use wbo2 and factory narrowband ------------------------
Battery tray welded in trunk

Re: '92 Coupe t2 build (Sleeper?)
I replaced my n60/maxima maf with a n62/300zx maf, also replaced my 370cc sr20 injectors with ~555cc subraru injectors.
Added a EGT sensor to 3rd and 4th cylinder, no real reason mostly for fun.
Device I put together from easily bought stuff that measures the two egt sensors as well as boost.

Time to go with a bigger turbo.
Acquired a bad gt2876 (.86, competition compressor housing). Had it rebuilt. It's all shiny and new here Here it is next to my journal bearing s14 t28 turbo. Modified a wastegate bracket for it and tack welded to compressor bracket. Here it is installed. It barely fits, had to shave down stud and put that nut on first. Only running 8psi as I slowly adjust my tune for new turbo. Didn't realize going ball bearing increased mid-rang torque so much. Can't wait to push 12+ psi on it.

Nice. I bet that turbo puts the old one to shame.
How much did the rebuild cost? I always hear that BB turbos are expensive to rebuild.

Wiseco/Eagle, JWT S1 cams, BC valve springs, PT5857, ID1700 injectors, SR20DET ECU w/ Nismotronic, COP conversion with LS ignition coils, etc, etc...

Yeah the new turbo is awesome. I totally underestimated how much better ball bearing turbos are.adamky wrote:Nice. I bet that turbo puts the old one to shame.

At 8psi the new turbo is as fast as the old one at 12psi.
I got it rebuilt for $680. That cost included a new turbine wheel/shaft (it was damaged when shipped to me with no moon clamps on exhaust side) and also includes the $30 for return shipping. I got a few quotes, one as low as like $400 (not including the turbine wheel/shaft) but I picked one of the most reputable places I could find. PM me if you want the company name, don't want to seem like I'm advertising.

Haha I like the sleeper look. Man BB's are expensive to rebuild! Looks like it was worth it from what you're saying though
