I can make up a intake mani head flange in Solidworks and send you it in any format you want (step, catia (cgr), iges etc) n if afterwards you wanted to mill me a prototype one for cost of material/your troubles that'd be wicked
Manifold is sick btw. I'm looking into similar but running a single 44 MVR.

one question, why dont more people go bottom mount like ams? i know its harder to get to and work on but keeping the center of gravity low sounds good. when i get my mani built i'm gonna go for a bottom mount. i'm top mount now and it makes things alot easier but they're building a track out here in nola and i'm gonna wanna run on it. the top mount wont stop me but for handling purposes would bottom mount be better?

DC47A - Thanks! You're not too bad yourself!
Aaj2k5 - I haven't made it to the intake manifold yet, but I'll keep that in mind...
TanManS14 - Yes it was done on the turntable. I try to use it whenever possible. I ran 35cfh on the torch, I don't remember exactly how much was used for purging, depends on what was being welded. Overall, a massive amount of argon was used...
Turbonola - you just about covered all the reasons why I went with a top mount setup. It also helps with the oil drain and looks baller as hell with the hood open. I wouldn't be to worried about the location of the turbo. Either way its heavy as ***** and bolted to the engine.
Progress with the car has been super slow with the arrival of my daughter (baby #3 )
After one failed attempt at making an end tank for the intercooler core and going back to the drawing board (literally), progress is being made once again.

fantastic stuff. I have always aspired to make welds that look a fraction of that good. I just dont do it enough to be any good at it . I can make a strong weld in a non critical application but the right angle grinder is sure to follow for cosmetics

Supakat- thank you! I almost forgot what it was like to have a newborn in the house! She's so freakin adorable tho!
Nismoautoxr- doing it for a living really has helped develop my skills tremendously. Along with the type of work I do (close tolerance/aerospace) and all the different weld specifications my work has to meet/exceed, I don't have much of a choice lol. Pride has something to do with it also but I do have my moments from time to time...
C_mancuyas8- thanks! Ill keep posting pics as progress is being made.

I thought it was time to start making progress again...
Aluminum 3in tube to ebay/pegasus wiggins type ferrule
The tube will be welded to this.
The end tank was made late last year. It hasnt been welded to the core because its still in "o" condition. Once the other end tank is finished, they'll be heat treated to T6 condition along with the plenum ill be starting soon...

God i want a g35 for a dd. They go for such decent prices too. Have you seen a decent amount of success with the Pegasus clamps? Is that the 3.5 thick inter cooler?
Can you explain what you're doing to the 6061? I assume some type of quenching, just wondering how quickly you have to quench the area after welding/ how much strength you gain from it.

The v36 is waaaay nicer overall then the v35. Infiniti did a great job redesigning the g35. You can definitely feel the extra weight upfront of the awd system. I absolutely love it!
This is my first time running the pegasus clamps. I read good things about them on yellow bullet so i figured id try them out. They have some type of coating that needs to be removed before any welding is performed...
The intercooler measures 24x12x4.5.
I personally will not be doing the heat treating. After heat treat, the whole part should be as strong as steel. Even the rod used(4043) is heat treatable.

I have to ask if you did something special to manage to fit a 4 inch downpipe? I don´t think I can manage to fit more than 3,5 inch and even then it might rattle against the steering"don't know the name" thing?
I do know that the steering thing is a little bit thicker in my 200sx than a 240sx but it can't make that big of a difference?

Welds on the compressor are hawt. The pegasis clamps are dope lookin, plus tool-less intercooler clamps= awesome. Idk why all their **** has that coating. i did a mild steel vband that i wire wheeled and the coating did not want to come off, welded really weird.
Damn, went with the biggen, the 4.5 core used to be cheaper than the 3.5 thick because of demand i guess. But now i can only find it for $480, where did you gget yours from?

I got the core from here
http://wideopentuning.com/index.php?mai ... 20a&page=2
Id never heard of them before the purchase but they're legit. The package actually shipped straight from ATPTurbo...whatever works...
My biggest concern was fitting the damn thing behind the stock bassmouth bumper! It BARELY fits...
On and today the end tank was dropped off for heat treat/age. Once it comes back it'll go to chem clean to get etched and deoxed
