My front facing manifold..

Post by ALTKAT96 »

I started building a manifold for my Altima and it didn't occur to me to open up a thread on it here, but I guess it's never too late even though I'm almost done with it. I'll post some pics so you guys can see the progress..

That's different. Interesting. Why front facing like that? Seems to cause a slightly funky downpipe route. Is there a radiator in there somewhere?

Lol.. That gap does look bad in that pic, but I did fix it after wards and is now fully welded.I've been doing fab work on cars for about 4 years and this is my first exhaust manifold.. It's tidious work!!!

The turbo seen in the pics is just for mock up, it's an old Innovative turbo.

No updates yet, but next week I'll be finishing up the last welds and after that I will be dropping the engine/trans to sort out a throwing bearing issue that I'm having. Traction won't be that big of a problem because I'll be running 26x10 slicks with a nice suspension setup.

I finally got back to working on the manifold for a bit, today I started to smooth out the inside of the collector and welded the wastegate flange to the elbow that is going to get welded to the collector.

Nice setup! I have the very same setup on my evo and dsm. Are you going to run a civic "style" half-sized radiator? Keep us update on your coolant temps if you do. I've thought about running a half radiator in my 240 but havent really seen it done.
