Anyone have any tips on mig welding stainless ?

good luck on thin stainless, but proper gas, wire,
and if your doing open root stuff, either run a second bottle of pure argon to back purge, or use an apropriate flux

had to cut my stainless exhaust to put a small twist on it because of clearance issues..so 3 inch stainless exhaust

Well I doubt you are gonna switch over to a spool of 308l or set up a purge system for one weld. so just weld it up and paint the weld with some high temp.

Instead of back-purging you can use solarflux. It's worked well for me. It's expensive, so maybe you can bum a small amount from someone nearby. I think I've used 10% of a pint sized can doing three exhausts and two intakes out of stainless.
