so finally got another single cam and decided to boost it and finish my manifold. the manifolds runners ended up being to short and could not fit the turbo elbow in as it was to close to the tranny. i had to extend it so please excuse the welds i wen from the nice miller at work to harbor freight :/. but the main thing is IT WORKS!!! lol, i am just waiting on intercooler and piping to finish putting everything together and then ill have a test drive video heres some pics

if everything works perfect i will be making another one thats not welded in the middle and has the correct deminsions now that i have them :)

Lol dude, you should build the intake mani the exact same specs. So its just a replica on each side. Dude's will be confused.

Function over form.... but sometimes cheapness over function is ok lol

It might even flow better than a JGS since there is an exhaust plenum? lol

You can always upgrade in the future if it bugs you.

Looks like it cost about 30 bucks and a few hours of work

A+ for designing and fabing something yourself, but holy moly!
when i saw the turbo bolted on i had to go back as i thought it was an intake manifold.

basic concepts are small size and less thought about flow, or long with great flow. it seems neither were addressed as its large and square.

not sure what you used for the body of the manifold but that much surface area before a turbo will surely get nearly red hot and the likely hood of material failure is way up there

thanks man. i know its a little out of control but it seems to work so far, but on the first drive the turbo actually blew so now im waiting on a inlet and outlet for my t28 and once i have that ill put it on and post some driving vids.

before the turbo blew though i was hitting full boost by like 2700-3000 but i didnt really get to drive very far to really see how well it performed :/

heres a pic of the setup in the light lol

also the turbo i was running was a 2871r journal bearing

However good of a point and or insult it was, the old tiny wouldve told him he'd rather rape his dead mom than have to look at it a second longer. I miss your complete disregard for the feelings of others. Makes me sad.

Lol, the turbo blows and there's no diagnostic process, then you just plop another on and it blows again ?

Someone who builds a square exhaust manifold WOULD do some **** like that.

actually i did try and diagnosis it but the first turbo already had had supposed problems and was ebay so i figured it was that.....but dont worry i have another one coming and will be on with in the week or so.

then i will post a video so you can see how said "square manifold" sucks when from what i could tell with the t28 doesnt but thanks

i personally think this is awesome. you know what your getting into, it sounds like this is just a fun car you play around with and not a car you must use to get to work everyday. So enjoy it and keep up the DIY

Thanks guys.

Well so I put the new oil line on and turbo and everything seemed cool, but ran into a few issues with it leaking but found out it just wasn't as tight as I thought it was :p

Also now that it's finally fully up and running took it up and down the street a few times and it's was burning oil hellllllla bad lol and could not figure it out. I had thought the turbo was bad but it wasn't then thought it was my return line was backing up but no again.

Turns out it was my pcv and the crank case was being pressurized but from what I read people just plug it on the intake manifold and run the line to a catch can and I did that and seems to have fixed the problem.

Will that be ok? Cause I read it on a DIY miata turbo forum figured it was pretty close to the same situation.

Put a breather filter on there, dont ever plug your PCV, it has to vent any blowby from the rings for the motors health.

yeah hes got it right. i think he was talking about plugging the intake manifold where the PCV used to go.

yeah i just run my PCV to atmosphere too.

Ya I plugged the port on the manifold and the line to it is being ran to the catch can. What do you guys normally do with valve cover just put a mini air filter on it?

Mini airfilter from walmart for 9.99 or whatever lol

If you want to be cool you can get a catch can and pack it with copper wool (large cut type, and clean it prior)
