almost step by step how to build a FAB9 rear housing

Post by RunninMeBrokeS13 »

hey guys its been a pretty good wile since iv posted on this forum, iv been building one of my s13 to 25:1 spec, long story short the original motor was supposed to be a turbocharged lsx motor but i think i may throw a curve ball at the guys at the track and go back to my roots and build the nastiest KA-T out there. well back to the thread.

this isnt quite step by step but it gives you a good idea on what you have to do. if you want more information on it just pm me, iv made about a ton and a half of these things and know all the tricks for the most part.

so im skipping the first 2 steps because trying to explain these would take a century. but in a nutshell step 1 water jet the pieces step 2 bend the pieces.
Image

step 3 your going to want to clamp the faceplate on a machined surface, doing this will keep it straight when your tacking everything up.
Image

step 4 tack up the center to the faceplate make sure your top on your faceplate and the fill are in the correct spot for obvious reasons.
Image

step 5 fit up and tack in sides be sure to once again put the vent hole on top
Image

step 6 fit up webs with tubes and tack into place
Image

step 7 fit and tack inner gussets
Image

step 8 weld up the inside nothing to the face plate!
Image

step 9 channel and v grove the outside of the box and prep for welding
Image

step 10 bolt up a cover to the box and weld up the outside start with the box itself then the faceplate this will help with starting and stopping points and make a much cleaner look
Image

step 11 cut axle tubes to length and put line up bar in and tack them then weld them into place
Image

step 12 fit and weld up the back brace leave that dam line up bar in!
Image

step 13 install your brackets pm me for further instruction on this.
Image

step 14 install the ends onto the axle tubes with line up bar. then fill drain and vent logo install and shes done!

What front struts are you gonna run? And why are there tubes running into the stock tunnel? When is all of that coming out for the new floor and tunnel bars that run up to the mid plate?
