BKR7E's with external coil/dizzy and ignition rewire and you will be golden.

im up for suggestions-
i have no boost leaks, checked to 20 psi- checked the internal wastegate operation its fine, at high rpm past 4000 the boost starts to drop from 8-9lbs to 5 or 4 lbs and the afr ratio goes pig rich to 10 or 8. i changed the plugs from fouled bkr7e's to bkr6e (something like that) stock plug heat range is 5 and the situation improved a little
could it be the turbo outlet to v band adapter leaking some exhaust? thats after the wastegate though, cant be it.

I take it you are draw though? I wonder if the E has a PCV setup like DE and it is failing. Just verifying that you boost leaked from the inlet of the turbo?

Have you tried gapping lower? If you have a dying coil or something like that it would help to diagnose
I have ran 16psi on the stock s13 external coil with .035 gap no blowout.. .045 was blowing out though.
Glad you made it here, infamousnissan knows about suspension/frame/body mods but not so much when it comes to engines/boost.
Forums are like girlfriends... you need to have a few different ones for different uses

Spot on! I was on here years ago....D21det. Lost all info and had to create a new account recently. I have a lot of reading to do here again.schmauster920 wrote:

Did you have a pic of the motor in the truck? As i remember it looked like it was operational
Edit : nevermind, checked my messages it was myka24det. He said a solid (im guessing custom) motor mount made the front sump oil pan clear the crossmember. This is why i cut and rewelded the pan and pickup to convert to rear sump, it happens to work out well for oiling on hard launches too
Im going to make a revised one with added capacity in the future

Cool. Pic of your bay? How do you like the dohc vs sohc? I'm sure there are plenty more options as in every catagory. It'd just be easier for me to learn on a sohc at the moment. Plus I don't want gobs of power, just enough for people to say wtf! Oh, did you get a de from a 240 since your talking about pan issues? I had one from a fronty to put in but never really played with it or even attempt to research.

Yeah i wanted to be able to get junkyard motors/parts and there are plenty of s13s in the yards out here, no frontiers ever... every once in a while you find a truck but its usually from the 80s.
Nothing wrong with learning on the SOHC, i never turbod it though. If you go DE in the future you can reuse most stuff.
The DE flows better and is more efficient in general. Back then there were no manifolds available for the E and DE parts were semi plentiful. I picked up a good running KA with harness and ecu for 300 so i couldnt pass it up.

Re:
what will changing to an external coil do performance wise compared to the internal coil. From what i am reading in other forums it seems people are going the other way and putting single internal coil. Just wondering what your take is on this?supakat wrote:BKR7E's with external coil/dizzy and ignition rewire and you will be golden.
