My Australian 1997 D22 KA24e turbo build.
Ive been doing tons of research regarding turboing the ka24e motor.
But it looks like the forum seems pretty dead?
So feel free to follow up on my thread to give me tips and advice about it as I go through headaches for a bit more power in the navara.
I dont know a lot about turboing engines so.. what to lose!
This is the plans at the moment..
T25/ 28 turbo
Top mount forward intercooler
Cxracing turbo manifold (hopefully available still)
Some sort of fuel & timing control: safc apexi2 & MSD
Fabricating my own intake plenum and to relocate the maf sensor because the D22 ka24e has the throttle, maf and tps with the intake manifold (below the plenum). Not sure if the air temperature sensor will like the increased pressure.
This list doesnt include the turbo oil and coolant lines/ piping and a few other small things to do, YET- I'll start planning on those after I have figured out how much room I have after test fitting the intercooler, turbo and turbo manifold.
But first I have low compression issue to deal with while I buy the parts for the build.

Hi mate, I also have an Aus delivered D22 that I'm thinking about turbocharging. KA performance parts aren't as common here as the US so I'm really interested in what parts you use for your build.

Hey mate,
I finished the build couple weeks ago, and now I'm chasing a new issue.
A lot of the things I used were bought off ebay.
T28 turbo (ebay)
T3 turbo flange (ebay US)
T3 to T2 adapter (ebay)
Hoses, threaded hose fittings, banjo bolts (ebay)
1g mitsubishi Bov (gumtree)
SR20 downpipe to stock exhaust (gumtree)
Top mount intercooler GU (ebay)
Intercooler piping (local exhaust shop)
Apexi s afc2 (ebay US)
AEM afr (ebay)
Oil, coolant and boost gauges (ebay)

Stock engine?
Did you update or refresh any of the gaskets prior to the turbo?
How's it running?

Before I put the turbo on, I replaced the head gasket.
But I didnt do the job properly and at my own cost the following weekend after I finished the self tune it blew the head gasket.
Right now, my ka24et with 290,000km has a cometic dual cam head gasket with ka24e arp studs because I had to remove the headgasket again and thought, why not while I'm there?
I'm not going to say its a dream to drive right now, it was great the first weekend, huge difference.
I cheaped out on Chinese hoses with Australian fittings which have caused coolant and oil leaks, I've replaced the head gasket 3 time now lol. My first turbo car, an engine never designed to have a turbo what could go wrong?
I think I'm dealing with a boost issue right now, but I'll be buying a T3 turbo, external wastegate and 550cc injectors, wider hood scoop next.
I would of taken better steps and spent less money if I had done this right the first time, but that's part of learning.
It was and is a fun project, just learn from my mistakes

3x 52mm gauge holder that I made from steel that was lying around painted black.
Ended up removing it and planning to buy the pod pillar mount.
