side note, i had this motor in a previous 89 with different turbo setup.

Ran a 13.5 @ 104mph with 12psi boost.

This car is 100lbs lighter, has a much larger front mount and turbo.. im expecting 12's on streets.

My tial stopped working at some point in the night tonight, after hitting 35psi for a few seconds, my head bolts stretched and my head gasket is gone.

My plans for ARP studs, P&P, cam and multilayer gasket are gonna have to happen soon now... i need a credit card

Im not old enough for a credit card yet anyways, im only 19 so id most likely get rejected.

Little update... i returned the Tial and got a new one, pulled off my head gasket and found 8 burn through marks on 2 of the cylinders.

I started P&Ping my head, and ill try and send off my Cam and cam towers for machine work in the next week or 2.

^ deltagate too!

Nice setup! Definately envious of you! How much porting do you plan to have done? From what I've read (not-1st hand), the kade.... ok, nm, you have a sohc... but I'm interested anyways, what improvements can be made to the sohc head?

A ton, the KA head is an airflow night mare, the casting doesnt line up with all the valve seats and there are ridges and sharp corners everywhere.

Unless you have $300US for the one my friend is selling you HAVE TO get one custom made.

There are 2 people in north america selling SOHC manifolds right now, me and realnissan.com

Theres is like $600US, and you've already made it clear $300US is out of your budget so i guess you'll be making your own.

a wideband is an O2 gauge (oxygen sensor) that monitors air/fuel ratios about 1,000,000,000,000,000,etc,etc more accurately than an A/F gauge based on the standard oxygen sensor. the PLX unit uses a digital display to represent the ratios, this all in hopes of running a stoichiometric ratio(ideal ratio) of air to fuel. The stoichiometric ratio for a gas engine is about 14:1, 14 parts air to 1 part fuel. too much air / not enough fuel will cause a lean condition (very very bad) whilst too much fuel / not enough air will cause a rich condition (definately not nearly as bad as a lean condition). In lean conditions you run hotter, thus less efficient. Your turbo spools really nice (because heat IS energy to spin that baby) but your engine hates it; melted pistons, burned EVERYTHING, etc. In a rich condition, your simply just boggin the engine down, not really causing any REAL harm, just your engine runs like crap because your spitting more fuel than the engine can handle, so it (in an extremely simplistic sense) floods the engine with fuel.

Anyways, you run the Wideband O2 unit to make sure that your running Stoich as much as possible, so you can tune your engine accordingly to achieve this ratio as closely as possible.

If your gonna run alot of boost w/o adding fuel, your only adding more air, so your gonna run REALLY REALLY lean. So what's the solution? Add larger injectors, higher flow fuel pump, etc. But you still need to controll the fuel flow right? Use any of the fuel management sytems (AEM EMS, S-AFC 2, Emanage, etc.) to control the flow of fuel so you can thus make sure your not flooding the engine with fuel, but so you can run as close to a stoichiometric ratio as possible. Look at some of Jordan's in car videos, and watch the device sitting atop his steering column... that my friend, is a PLX m300 wideband in action. Hope this helps, and if any portion of this is incorrect, please add/adjust accordingly.
