also, im possibly swapping the motors out unsure yet, does it go up and out or down and out? Im a new 240 owner so im in the learning process :]

Not sure on the timing chain issue but the motor goes up and out.

Timing chain has an oil fed tensioner.

If you have that much slack, check your oil pressure or get an oem timing chain kit and replace it.
