Alright, for those people running Jim Wolfs DOHC ECU / Distributor re-clock, for the SOHC engine program, or know someone who has, or, anyone running a DOHC ECU with a SOHC engine, question for you.
Did you have to swap over to a DOHC tach? As we all know, the two engines/ECU's use different tach's and signals inputs/outputs. Do you treat this just like a (SOHC to DOHC engine swap)? Anyone bypass the DOHC ECU tach signal, and wire the SOHC tach directly to the coil output and got it to work? Do most just use a aftermarket tach or SAFC for a tach? Did you have to clip any wires to prevent short circuits if not using the DOHC tach gauge?
I ask because when doing a swap from KA24E to KA24DE, the DOHC tach is needed, but for those running the old Jim Wolf DOHC ECU program on a SOHC engine all that is usually mentioned is sending the distributor in for a re-clock.
I know this is a strange question. But any help is appreciated.

SOHC engine, DOHC ECU questions?
Saving KA24's... One at a time...
Re: SOHC engine, DOHC ECU questions?
Yes, and it works fine. The KA24DE tach uses the 5V tach signal from the ECU (pin 2) but the KA24E tach needs the 12V signal (pin 3).2hunglow1standhi wrote:.........Anyone bypass the DOHC ECU tach signal, and wire the SOHC tach directly to the coil output and got it to work? ..........
