Non turbo'd but removed egr....butterfly valve question

Post by khmer1 »

I have a non turbo ka24e and i have also removed most of the emission stuff from the motor but i haven't remove the secondary butterfly system. Is it ok if i leave them in?Would it hurt anything? i readed that you can leave them open how to you go about doing that? the only reason why i would like to leave them in was in case i want to put the egr back on. any Any advice, help, hints, tips on this would be appreciated thanks

I pretty sure the butterfly/ Swirl control valves are always open until they get vac... Just leave the vac hose unplugged. Nothing bad will happen either way. Most say you will loose low end... But the "butt" Dyno didnt feel any loss.

You could even unplug the harness connector on the SCV, and no problems will happen.

Happy SOHC N/A motoring dude! Whats your plans? Daily? Some intake/exhaust/AFC?

I can't think of any reason you can't run either the EGR or intake butterflies exclusively.

It might trip your ECU and make it run differently, the butterfly valves connect to a valve on the back of the intake manifold that pushes flaps in your intake open or closed.

easy fix is each butterfly flap has 2 philips screws holding it in. just remove screws and slide flap out. i ran mine like this N/A for years on stock ECU ran perfect
