lower compression on stock ecu
ok guys this seems like a stupid question but if I lowered compression from a 9.8:1 to a 8.8:1 would I have to have the ecu tuned? If you raise it you have to but for some reason I seem to remember seeing some people dropping compression on our ka's and driving around and breaking their engines in before they boosted them. I cant find anything on this question....getting frustrated

Should be okay. You won't be able to fine tune the timing to make up for the lower compression, though obviously. Otherwise you'll be fine Don't know why I just now came across this post.

Re: lower compression on stock ecu
awesome thanks man the compression ratio is 9.7 just found out and the closest pistons I could find were 9.1 so its pretty close and im having the head shaved so it should bump it up closer to 9.2:1. Ill post pics after the pistons come in and what not. doing a build for my gf's eclipse. and of course I over build everything lol. after this month I SHOULD be having the m90 on and running I need to have 2 pieces machined for the pulley set up and nobody will do it....
