thats ***** fast.. time for ivan to be runnin like that lol.. but ka power!! the 2jz is a great motor dont get me wrong.. but it belongs in supras.. and some toyota trucks
in the lastest turbo magazine it says that duy dyno'd at 781whp.....Ivan dyno'd at 718whp. Why is duy so much faster??? Is he building power sooner or reving higher?

Keep in mind that he has a 2JZ in that S14... But I dont think Ivan was at full power for his low 9sec run.

Would you care to elaborate??? Does the 2j build power sooner? The 2j isn't exactly square... is it? I know it has torque but once you start getting up in the 700 range doesn't it fall off??

I think it would make more TQ down low.. but i could be wrong.
Would that matter though since he has a tranny brake and really never sees low rpm's? ? Seems like the ablity to rev that high along with the tranny brake would keep him at peak power the whole time, as well as being lag free.
Tanner.
mattmartindrift wrote:is that even fast for a 2j...i know guys running 9s in daily driven supras alll the time @ the track, and what's the weight difference here?
theres a huge difference between a 9 sec car and a mid 8 car....
Duy's running fast and doing it with alot less power than most of those MK4 guys have running similar times (obv. power to weight ratio difference though)
yeah, i'm well aware, it gets "exponentially" harder as you knock off more and more time. I see he's making what people say here as 700. But that engine has SOOOO much more potential, and supras have run low 8s on "street" radials.
the 8.6 run was spraying off the line (nitrous shuts off at 20 psi and then all boost from there).
"On the 8.6 pass, we cut a 1.38 60' and the nitrous shut off at 20psi and we ran 38psi all the way down. So there is a lot left in the car. The car makes roughly 875-900 on boost only. Once we get the car back together, the times will drop like panties on prom night"
the 1000+whp dyno was spraying nitrous all the way through.
"gt47-80 its a hybrid from Autobanh (T4 with BL manifold, 35 psi and 225 shot)"
I would like to make a correction to a statement I made previously about turbo magazine. It seems that they have conflicting information, "Houston went on to score 781 from the 2jZ- powered s14 silvia, owned by Duy Bui", this was on page 86. On page 88 turbo states "The ultimate sin': a s15 front-end conversion 240sx with a 2JZ-powered single turbo powerplant. Duy Bui's 240 laid down the law with an 880 horsepower dyno pull". Sorry for posting false information, not sure where the hell I get 714whp. I despise false information. So once again sorry :bash:

Don't worry about it, we all make mistakes sometimes.
I didn't know he made the 1000 with spray all the way through the pull.
