Dam Greaser!!! What are your plans or gaskets for the manifolds to seal? I can't wait to see the flow bench numbers.

read the damn post!!! hah

resurfacing all flanges

yeah i cant wait for the results. its either gonna prove me right or wrong. i'm sure all the internet head porters are gonna say too big and lowering low lift velocity and poor mpg.

If I'm still in town when you get this car together, you can use my Pbox to get a trap speed, along with tons of other data.

Resurfacing all the flanges isn't going to help with the exhaust gasket sealing. Let me see if I can make it clear, how do you plan to make a gasket and manifold flanges to mate to the surface of the head once they are resurfaced which will only make them perfectly flat. The ports are so close to the head its obvious you'll have to go custom but I curious to what. Its been a while since we've seen each other. I think I may stop by next time I drive to NJ.

It's like a Quad 4 head. Just weld on some extra then surface the mating areas and of course make your own flange which I am sure you are.

any update
wow you really opend the ports up and im gonna have to go with the internet port n polish guys saying your losing the velocity component in this and thet only way i would say go that big of ports on the intake at least is if your goign wit a fatty turbo boosting high psi and going for a hihg revving motor......jsut my little thought on things

but non the less glad to see taht someone is actually doing some hardcore R&D into the head

really wanna see the numbers and powers

head work on a mild street engine

Post by eksavior »

I'd like to get an opinion on this. Is head work recommended for a k24det daily driver? a friend told me that a full port & polish might be overboard for a daily driver, but he's a chevy drag guy, i don't know if that might skew his opinion. He recommended just a port match since i don't intend to make huge hp. I just want some above average street performance.

you can make power with oversize valves and a heavy port and polish, but honestly I would do a nice turbo setup, good tuning, suspension etc etc before I went down that road. my car is 1/4 tube chassis, built motor, custom turbo kit, custom wired, caged, fuel celled bla bla bla, and I havent touched the head. food for thought

Is it me or does the dohc ka head resemble a more modern yet detuned version of the old LZ20B head?

I must say thats a really nice job on the ports. I cant imagine the time you have in this. Since you have done the hard part for us, how about posting up some of the measurements of head thickness. Waiting for update too..
