thanks miliman...what pic are you talking about though...i dont have a brace on the engine...i have been rubbing down the body for clear then i will pay more attention to the bay...also, i will be updating pics in the next two weeks or so with a better camera...then you can see the setup better...

yup...same applies for rims...it can make or break a car...i am thinking about putting red tint in the clear...so at different sun angles, it will have slight difference...
I wish the color was darker but it keeps growing on me...

thanks man...lots of sweat and blood went into the car...i just need to clean up the bay and take pics...then focus on increasing boost within my injector size...then when i surpass that...rebuild the motor with forged parts and bigger injectors...

Update: Well back in October I overboosted on the motor. Here are the damages to the motor. Next week take the block the shop, figure what i need .020 or .040 and order pistons and rods. I need to mic the crank for the bearings which i hope are still standard size.
And get her done.
Three pistons broke the ring lands.

thats a really nice setup good luck on build. what year Z is that on the back ground i got rid of my turboed 240z regret it i got them turbo wheels on one of my 510's

71 240z with an L28ET. She runs but just the funds to start the project has not gotten their yet. It is my bro in laws car.
I did some work last night. Put in the new freeze plugs, installed the oil squirters and sprayed the block. I am going to see about installing the crank hopefully today or tomorrow.

Installed crank and pistons/rods
Today i woke up bored. I was not planning on doing any work today but tomorrow i will be going to the fair so i had to make up for tomorrow.
Things that got done today:
Installed the crank with arp hardware.
Assembled the pistons and rods.
broke down the head so i can change the valve stem seals and do some valve lapping.
Next to do is get a piston ring filer to file the rings and install per wiseco specs.

Well after 3 hours of meticulous filing, my brother in law and i filed the rings down to spec. The top rings needed to take off around .009 off in order to reach .018. The second rings only needed .003 or less to reach .020. So this is done, I will drop the piston's in and finish up the bottom end. I also bed lined my valve cover. Will post pics tonight.

I did a mile port and polish about 4 years ago. I am going to port match the manifolds and clean up the angle on the intake ports. I can see where the fuel is coming in and puddling. I can see a lot of this just behind the valve guide but i am not gonna cut the guide down.
I am going to use the stock springs and the valves still have some life. I just need to lap the valves again and should be good to go. I only have enough money to get 1000cc injectors and a clutch.

Tonight was a good night. Assembled the short block. Pistons went it smoothly and torqued to specs. Rotating assembly rotates by hand just smoothly. Now to redo a return line to the oil pan and bolt up the front timing cover.

Last night, I lapped my valves. Took about an hour to do all. I took my head to the machine shop and used the straight edge to make sure im good. came back then removed the valve seals and started to install the new ones. i hate doing these little pos's. one mistake and the seal is done. after i did that, i install the valves. the tool i use to remove the valve keepers and install the keepers is one of the best tools i have. $35 from tool topia and i can install valves seamlessly. no need to use c clamps. i dont even have to reinforce the valve from pushing down. just press, here the keepers click, then let go.

To fund the project, sell a whole bunch of stuff you have laying around. It is small enough to ship: eBay it, if not: craigslist it! I have also made money by finding stuff being thrown out. One man's trash is another man's cash.
I also do side gig's with computers which helps out as well.

i bought a spring compressor from ebay when i did my first rebuild but ended up only using the cylinder where you have access to the valve retainer and use a big c clamp for valve jobs that we had already. then one day while searching the web, i saw this on a forum and decided to buy it.
heres a vid. i dont use a hammer or dead blow, i just use my body weight.

God I wish i had that when I was rebuilding my old mazda 626. I mean it took forever to do all 16 valves.
