Stock Motor - GT28R questions.

Post by Hot_Wheelz »

Hey there.
I have a 91 240sx KA24DE turbo. It has a GT28R @ 6psi. Dyno'd at 187 HP. My question is on the stock internals how much boost am I safe up to with this turbo. I've been thinking about turning it up with a manual boost T to 10 PSI and see what kind of numbers I can get on the dyno. Any suggestions etc. very welcome.

you could just run as much as that turbo can handle, just un hook the wg line and you should be fine

I seriously don't understand anything that TanManS14 is saying.. and I'm not even sure what language it is to find an online translator.

would 10 psi with the 370cc injectors be okay? whats the most people are running on stock internals?

Spanish to English translation

Do not work with more than ~ 200hp with 370cc injectors. Large Neccesito injectors for more boost. Limit is roughly 12-14psi safely. I like chile rellenos, I like the tree in your ass. throw a fart sound.

we'd have to know more info as far as the rest of the setup.

TanManS14 is just typing bad spanish, like he used a translator or something. but he was sayin that you could prolly do ~200hp with 370cc injectors and that you would need bigger injectors to run 12-14 psi. and that he likes stuffed chile? something about his ass and the sound of farting.

lol. you should be ok with 10psi on 370cc injectors tho but its better to post the rest of the setup.

-msd blaster ss coil
-short shifter
-GT28r turbo
-full stainless 3" exhaust
-FMIC
-aluminum rad
-AC delete
-Megasquirt ECU
-LC1 wideband with gauge
-Knocksense MS knock sensor, tied into the ECU for automatic timing pull
-sr20 370cc injectors, cleaned and flowtested
-taylor battery box in trunk
-autometer boost, oil pressure, water temp gauges
-Bosch BOV modded to open atmosphere (proud of this, more responsive than an ssqv but no compressor surge either)
-electric fan mod
-infiniti q45 front brake upgrade
-fairly new Excedy clutch, master cylinder and slave cylinder

this is the turbo, on the right. The one on the left was the old turbo.

Meaning injectors arent expensive. And if you have a standalone there's no reason not to change the injector size for 100 or so bucks. Rather then sit there and worry if you have enough injector for x amount of boost.

My gt28r overboosts to 9psi regularly. It appears to go lean from 9 and up with 370cc injectors. I definitely want a new set of dw injectors soon. Looking to get 740cc and produce some more tunes to share.

Its a fun turbo but I want a t3t04e more.

How did you have it tuned? 187 is very low for this setup, you should be in the low 200's

Not raggin on you but there may be some issues that need ironing out first.

I was running 10 psi with my gt2560r on 370cc, made 205whp at 10 psi.
Currently running a gt2871r .86 with 555cc, made 307whp at 14.5psi.
Stock block.

You can up the boost to 10 psi with the 370cc on stock block but make sure you have a good tune.

I ran that turbo once, its pretty awesome for street driving, I dyno'd 253hp and 282tq @ 18psi w/ 460cc injectors. You could probably run the 370s @ 15psi, or higher if you ran meth injection. Only a wideband will tell you how much boost you can run.
