Project Frankenstein Superleggera
The project will consist of a frame like the Ariel Atom and will weigh around 900-1200 lbs.
The Uprights and Brakes will be from a Miata, A arms are custom made. The engine is most likely going to be SR20, I know why. The reason of the engine choice is because every pound counts and the differance between KA and SR is about 61 lbs. I was looking at a GTIR SR20, then use a FWD trans. The entire price of the car is $6500.

I've been thinking of doing one too. I think it would be fun. There is a lot of stuff to take into consideration though. The new arial atom has a v8 and its not quite as good as the first because of the added weight in the rear and the extra power make it to hard to drive. Good luck!

Thanks guys for the support. The suspension geometry doesnt need to be spot on, most of the custom cars ive watched being built and there A arms were horizontaly. But if I cant find the angle of the Atom's A arms, then I will copy the miatas. The coil suspension will be off a R1 bike and I will be setup in a Pushrod configuration
This isnt to dicourage anyone on there current project or/and car. this is just to show you what im looking at on a daily basis
Pushrod Suspension
Here are some other car designs

SUPERLITE ROADSTER
DERONDA

does anyone know if you can convert a linkage type trans to a cable shift or if when you transfer the engine from a fwd to a mid engine setup. will the shift linkage be useable as tha mid engine. PS the car will be RHD since I dont have to F around with dashes or firewalls.

if you use a qr 6speed trans, it is already a cable shifted trans,1993ka24det wrote:does anyone know if you can convert a linkage type trans to a cable shift or if when you transfer the engine from a fwd to a mid engine setup. will the shift linkage be useable as tha mid engine. only thing needed to make the qr trans bolt on the sr20 is the p12 bellhousing.
or you could just buy a p12 trans that is imported.
but it wont be locking.
but you can use the hlsd from the qr to swap into it.
Thats what im doing for my bluebird motor in my NX.
