Post by reeves69 »

so i have a question and for all you dick heads out there this isnt for you but back to the reason im here so it takes 5000 to build a 350hp ka and thats a large chunk of cash for anyone rich poor or mild class but anyways why not just buy an sr and i know this is a ka forum but i really do want a honest and true answer i know there is pro's and cons to both motors as in the usda 240sx come with the ka and you have to buy an sr swap the fact that ka's are a dime a dozen but the fact that there turbo from fact isnt a bad thing but really want to know why you guys have decided to go the ka route but remember no dick heads responses plz

If you have a ka in the car already, then a turbo kit on a stock ka will cost 2000$ and make more power than an sr. If you swap an sr in, you will spend about the same amount, but you will make less power and you will trade your cast iron block for an aluminum one.

yes but the thing is they say if your car doesn't have 150 psi of compression, you shouldn't turbo it right? and if it doesn't then you'd have to do a rebuild kit which increases the price.

Kas were used in trucks, srs were used in tiny sentras.

f you have low compression in any vehicle, you will need a rebuild.

The original setup I had cost about $1500 for a t25, manifold, injectors, fmic, exhaust, and nistune which outperformed stock sr20's
Since the majority of the 240 community views the ka as garbage they are selling KA's for dirt cheap, you can get a running motor for less than $500

Ka + turbo kit
Cast Iron block
2.4 Liter
Cost 2000$
Power: ~ 275-300 whp

SR Swap
Aluminum block
2.0 Liter
Cost: 2500$
Power: ~ 225 whp

Whoever said its 5000$ for a KA turbo setup was talking about building the motor. The people that build their motors are looking for 400-600 whp, some people have made 900 whp. But A LOT of people turbo their stock KA reliably and make around 300whp, something the SR cannot do without spending big money.

Just go Sr delete your acct and learn how to use the search button. Your going to need it to source parts when you break your motor.

You seem like you just wanted people to do your research for you on how to build a good ka. There are plenty of build threads here and most turn out successful. Even the ones that are boarder line on needing a rebuild but the person wants boost bad. They boost and get it going and you don't see them post anymore.

You two chill out before I delete the thread. A simple search would suffice on Google. Of course coming here, we KA. Silvia or NICO would be something other than KA.

Most of us went KA because others have done it before with great results. It beats having to do a swap and the money associated with it. The money put towards a swap can be put towards the KA. Most of us don't have money and are DIY'ers. Done.

I try not to flame people, but HOLY SH*T do proper grammar and punctuation go a long way. You're not going to get good answers when you have a paragraph length post and not a single period or question mark.

im just throwing my bit out there to let this guy know what a 5k build looks like because im pretty close to it but i havent even hit that mark yet, i dont think that is haha

block=1500
arp mains
supertech pistons
eagle rods
forge crank
felpro HG
OEM water and oil pump
OEM timing set
turbo=700
garret T3
JVS long block manifold
tial 38mm WG
intake manifold=210
godspeed one piece intake manifold kit
fuel=450
five0seven 750cc side feed injectors
tomei type L FPR
fittings
driveline=550
centerforce 2 clutch kit
comp light flywheel
diff solid bushing
ECU=310
calum RT
exhuast=200
blitz nuro spec
gauges=300
AEM wideband
AEM truboost
greddy EGT

im at 4220 and im going for more than 300 note that and im sure ill still probably reach the 5000k mark but that is because A LOT of the stuff i have listed i bought new, not trying to say on im mr rich fancy but it still goes to say that obviously with 5k your going to do a hell of a lot more than swapping an SR in so

if you look on here guys sell GOOD used parts and there are performance parts sellers on here that do great package deals all the time for very cheap

my recommendation to you is....don't bother adding up how much this costs because at the end of the day you could have bought a 350z...put a down payment on a frs' genesis or whatever. but that's not the point now is it?? we do this for the love of it...as a passion, as our hobby ...do what pleases you and do it the right way....save your money and build her slowly....ka's are cheap and easy to find with 400ccs more.

your decision though...I still want a rb one day

It 'can' be cheap pending you know everything and have a goal in mind. Mistakes are costly, especially if you don't read!
