Come on guys post what you are using I want to compare and contrast so I can figure out what is best suited for my application. I have heard about the alumiglides but haven't seen them in a turbo build yet

Be the first.

People use clevite and ACL. Look at the ka-t home page featured rides. They list what they have done in their builds, don't be lazy my friend, search a bit.

I've searched more than a little bit shift.....I'm just more into hearing why people have used ACL or CLEVITE or why they don't, I have gone through build threads over and over to figure out what people are using I just want to hear it first hand so I can get a feel for what I an most comfortable with

Its cool shift I respect your opinion very much. Your very smart i've followed your build for awhile now. I'm just not good at making snap decisions on these kinds of things because everyone is wishy washy on it ACL guys say they have had CLEVITEs fail and vise versa I just want to make sure Im putting the best product in my motor thats all I'm after. I'm leaning towards ACL because thats what my motor had before and the crank only needed to be polished it looked great my machinist said......

Honestly I went clevite because at the time in ams advance rebuild kit which was a kit for 550+whp the bearings that were sold in the kit was clevite. I figured good enough for ams then good enough for me. Ever since then I've been putting clevite in everything and so far so good.

i dont think you can go wrong. my machinist said "ACL if you can get them, but clevite is getting bettter these days" i figured the doods measured thousands of bearing clearences so id go with his suggestion. ( http://www.eastwoodsautomachine.com/ ) i called ACL directly and they sent me main and rod bearings for $47, less than half of any other site.

Found that w/in a couple of seconds.

I myself rebuilt a ka a while ago wih King bearings. I tore the motor back down due to headgasket(Cometic, go figure) not sealing but the bearings worked great for me, no problems. I have heard of other builds w/King bearings used and same result. Just throwing another 1st hand experience w/a different brand other than ACL/Clevite(Which I wouldn't hesitate to use either) out there. GLWF

I used king bearings and was never let down but I also used OE nissan bearings and clevites and never had problems with those either . Bottom line is with most name brand bearings ...as long as oil supply and clearances are on point you will likely not have problems with any of them.

I've used a combination of acl and clevite in an engine. I've built two different engines using clevite 77's, I've built a motor using king bearings and most recently topline.

The ACL / Clevite motor gets savagely abused with nothing to report.
Both of the clevite engines are still running perfectly fine.
The engine with the king bearings is being taken apart to check within the next month. (I'll report findings)
Lastly the topline engine will be installed and broken in in two weeks. (We'll see!)

In my personal engine, I'm leaning towards clevite 77's I really like the fact that they are a tri metal bearing. I've heard a bunch of bad stuff from ACL lately with quality control issues and budget cuts due to them almost going bankrupt. So I'd steer clear of them until they get that sorted out. That's not to undermine anyone who has used them in the past with success. I know several 500whp SR20 cars with ACL bearings in them. (Just built a few years back when they were on top.)

I've used clue it'd bearings in my rebuild before they were good. I'm currently using some sealed power ones. In my opinion as long as the tolerances are right, good oil and good oil flow. My thing now is just change the rod bearings more often.that seams to be the weak point in ka's. just change them more often and they should be good IMHO .
