grab piece of string, wrap around the pulleys to form full circle. measure length of string

take measurement in to autoparts store and they can hand you a belt by length.

String method will get you close but might be too tight.

Anyways, this is what you want.

I don't remember exactly what belt I used. I did have to get it in a 4-rib and cut it down to 3-rib because the stores around me don't stock a 3-rib in that length.

Part #s:
Ac Delco: 3K267

Carquest/Gates: K030267

Dayco: 268K3, 5030268

Goodyear (Gatorback): 4030267

Metric: 3PK0648, 3PK675, 3PK680

Motorcraft: JK3-274

Go with the NAPA brand trust me it's the best fit. This will run the water pump off the crank pulley without any tensionor needed.

future reference . Take your old (too long belt) , put the adjuster in the middle of its range cut the belt, stretchit around the pulleys you want to engage cut the excess out till the ends meet and the slack is out then measure end to end . A string might get close but (especially if its a v belt) it falls too deep in the grooves to be accurate.

I tried using just a belt without a tensioner, not my cup of tea. It kinda worked but I didn't trust it so I ran it until I got my SOHC stuff. Definitely worth it. I only wish I could find the belt I needed for it with only 3 ribs instead of four.
