He'll probably blow the motor, and then join the army of retards who hate on KA's for no good reason.

There used to be an article on old Nissan sponsored Baja cars that used an extremely modified KA, carbed, ran 200+HP NA and revved to like 9k, but it seems I can no longer find the article with the details.

The counterweighted crank is the largest obstacle, beyond the rod length.

our rods are great there longer than sr20 the crank is the issue but with a ati super damper people rev to 8500

so the crank is what starts to get dangerous at high revs in stock trim?

yes but there is no need to rev a ka so high ive ran 10.9 on 20lbs shifting at 6500 where as itll take a sr20 or b18 8000 rpm to make similar power. a b18 wont start making serious power till about 6k a ka will make the same power at 4500 with alot more torque

Oh wow 6500? Does your power fall off after that ? Or was that by choice ?

I tried revving to 6.5k stock cams 50 trim turbo at the track.
Once I reved it to 7k gained 4-6 mph trap speed and better 1/4 mile time

i spend hours on limiter lol. for events, i like 7200, helps me sleep at night. for the street 7500. all depends what you wanna do. for a drift car, a few hundred RPMs can be hugely helpful. ive tried 6800 and it def hinders things.

i got respect for rosado, but id certainly love to see some literature supporting the limits of the ATI damper. if I could conceviably rev to 7800-8000 comfortably with just springs and cams, i could justify the purchase.

It's not the Top end that needs the Help, it's the Bottom.
Gatta keep it from eating bearings and stretching.

I'm sure 7800 would be fine with Lighter Pistons and Rods, FULL bottom End balance (I would include the Flywheel Also), Loose end of Bearing Clearance, Quality ATLEAST 40wt Oil (i.e. 10w40 or 15w40) and some ARP Hardware to keep everything together.

Pistons: 375g
Wrist Pins: 110g
Rods w/ Bolts: 760g

Lightest Low Comp Pistons I've seen are the Arias 89mm @ 353g, Wrist Pin is 105.
Lightest Rods I've seen are the AMS/BC Sportsman @ 605g.

Total that removed ~ .4lbs so just under half a pound. Doesn't seem like much but when you do the calculations for rotating Mass it adds up quickly.

I don't see why you couldn't turn 7800 at that point as long as it's balanced and have some kind of Crank Damper.

Those Baja Motor's that were mentioned earlier still use a Factory Half-Countered crank. It's just modified with the Crank Pulley Bolt Drilled past/into the #1 Journal instead of just stopping past the Snout/Nose. I'm sure the crank has more mods but I can't recall them. But I do know they still used the Half-Countered OEM crank.

it was by choice just to get use to the car next weekend I'm racing and put my shift light to 7k. on the dyno we revved it to 7800 and it never fell off kept climbing. but like i said no need to go so high when we make double the power down low than 1.8 2.0 motors and make the same power 2000rpm sooner. top fuels only rev to about 8k and there the most powerful motors in the 1/4 mile

you have a point rosado those top fuel drag MACHINES are no joke. You should definately ride that power out if it holds strong, our motors impress me more and more everyday :)

well yeah beyond the springs, the heads in the clear. random good news, arias actually went lighter. Ver 1 is 351-353g, the new ones are 333g. i got the oldies. in percision terms my hy would be a 5658, its not holding powa up top like that 6262 thats fo sho, prob not even worth my time to pursue higher revs.

Top fuel is hugely limited by rules and regulations, not a good thing to compare to since they are doing all they can within the rule book which governs everything

Piston speed is scary high at redline due to the long rods/stroke, this has a negative effect on bearings.

I have a big T4 that hits around 4k. I feel like shifting around 6500-7k works well enough, but its nice to see people reving the crap out of them

IIRC It was the CORE offroad series that used the KA motor and if my memory serves me they DID NOT rev to 9k, but only to 7300 due to the harmonics in the crank and having bearing issues..

More RPM's would be of the best benefit to larger turbo guys to keep them in boost longer.

I'm in the middle of trying to get a KA to 9k myself though, but it will not be with the factory crankshaft. Due to the HCW issue it is more reliable in my mind to get a FCW and probably add an ATI dampner onto that as well.
