Head swap ? Sohc 2 Dohc

Ok I got a steal on a mint low mile no rust second owner 90 s13. But it's sohc I live in mn so there isn't to many junk yards around with ka dohc, I can find heads tho . So I was wondering if its possible to throw a dohc on my single if the block is diff ect. Thanks

It might bolt up, but the front covers are too different to consolidate to do a Frankenstein DOHC/SOHC block/head assembly.

Heads definitely have to match! I'm sure someone could pull it off one day, but it definitely wouldn't be easy.

Don't do it. Far too many complications starting off from basic timing. It's just not a thing to do. If it was easy you would hear about it and see it more. If you dig deep enough through a Google search you'll discover somebody who tried it and had issues and also advised not to do it.

There are a lot of guys down in Australia that have done this without said issues.

this can be done, i don't recommend you do it. buy a motor build it for boost

Real question is what's your power goals cause there are some mean sohc Ka-t boost that.I swapped to dohc back when there was like no support for it.
New turbo setup build in progress-11mm headstuds/cometic head gasket/jwt cam gears added,prec. 6266,gato mani,prec.46mm wg,bigger fmic,mspnp2,z32 trans,spec twin,q45 rear,full energy bushings. Still need injectors,and a few other small things

Old setup-ka24de-wiseco 9:1 pistons,eagle rods,arp studs,jwt s1 cams,brian crower springs and retainers,jgs log mani,t3 57trim .63 a/r,tomei 740cc,38mm turbonetics evolution wastegate,synapse bov,ebay fmic,nistune,j30 lsd.5 speed swap,z32 brakes F&R.

Wait for a deal to pop up. I'm sure you'll find a complete motor, you just need to be patient.

RB30 conversion is heavily documented and its still not straight forward at all. theres one in my shop.

Getting a DOHC would be a much, much cheaper alternative with less hassle.

There is 100% upside.
