Man that VLSD was hard to put in by myself working under a car on jackstands. I am 5'6 149lbs, just to give you an idea lol. But I got it done! The car is just hanging out at my buddy's shop right now, im just waiting on this coilover ot get shipped back. It should be in tomorrow; but I work Fri, Sat,and Sun, so I will only have time to put it back together on monday or tuesday.

Nice work. Yeah it can be a bit of a squeeze under there with jack stands. That's how I do my installs as well. Nissan street cred, haha.
Curious to see if the rear traction rod adjustment will pull the coilover off of the upper control/camber arms .

Did you get your alignment yet? Alignment will probably take care of the whole issue then you can replace the coilover if it bugs you that much. Those wheels are looking good.

I'm still waiting on the fixed coilover to come in so I can get an alignment. But! When I went to adjust the traction rod, it was wayyyyy off. So I really think that was the problem. I work tonight (Sunday 7pm to 7am) then I will hope that the coilover is here on Monday. I can't wait to get this thing back together. I'm pretty excited about it.

Also, I am looking for some good quality heim joints that wont rust and seize, these godspeed ones are trash. Any ideas?

Glad that traction rod adjustment cleared up the suspension clearance issue.
Maybe check out the thread sizes (if you haven't already), then I would check out QA1 or Aurora.

Oh geez, heim joints. This was kind of a large debate on another forum. Basically, one wants one that has a strong outer (a carbon steel like chromoly) and a teflon lined inner...pretty obvious things. They range in price too from ~$8 per piece up to around $60 (or morre) per piece.shift_down wrote:

skip that overpriced jazz and go to midwest control products. they sell quality heims for around 8$ each. i run DXTML-16 on all arms front and back and have been running them for about 4-5 years. they don't last forever, but that's a heim for ya. every few years i replace em. then holla at Seals-it in CT for rubber boots. if you like further supporting evidence look up aceinhole on nissanroadracing, search his name and heims, or motoria and youll see the thread. he is a nationally known SCCA driver. i copied his setup.
doesn't that lil traction rod interest you? you know how theres no specs for it? the dudes over on NRR have figured out that its adjustment is directly related to the toe curve through droop to compression. a few s14 guys have made up some excel charts showing what the different length traction rods yeilded for a toe curve. if its of interest to you look up nissanroadracing traction rod adjust. keep in mind, ride height plays a decent roll when interpreting their data. they generally tell you the fender to hub height but that will vary s13 to s14.

Thanks daigle, I've been looking into it since you posted. I might just do that once my joints start seizing up. And that traction rod is weird, so I'll have to check out that forum.
I threw some s14 seats in today instead of my flimsy eBay buckets. I love them so far.

I've been in the middle of life right now so it's suckin big ones. I have this nursing school stuff that's been taking all my time. And then work, and then I'm doing all this other stuff. I haven't touched the car in a while.
But once I get the time all I need to do is adjust the height, align the car, and get it painted.
Its really that simple. Time just hasn;t been on my side.

Ok so I finally got an alignment! Woohoo!!!
The car rides so much better now. No shaking, swaying, doing weird things during turns or braking. The only thing wrong is that there is a gap in the steering. The alignment guy said my subframe moves and my control arms also move, so he couldn't align the car perfectly.
I don't know what he meant by that since my friend took the car to get aligned and he does know much about cars.
Anyways, I also accidentally burned a hole in my turbo water line because it was resting on the downpipe lolll and that caused a shot of steam to puff out the hood.
Other than that, this car is a blast!
