portuguese 240 ka
hello my dear friends, have been ghosting around for over a year now and my ka finally got the teeth to eat a turbo(my pocket xD). had hoped that i would be the first kat in europe but well, there is always some one first. so here it goes, my build:
-bc 264cams
-ferrea std size valves
-bc valve springs and retainers
-cometic hg
-cp std size pistons
-bc rods
-stock crank
-arp rod bolts main bolts and head studs
-cxracing turbo mainfold
-cxracing downpipe
-gt35r turbo (gonna stick with the cxracing turbo till i got money to buy a precision =D)
-stock intake mainfold (all emmision and related stuff removed)
-mishimoto radiator
-850cc dynamics injectors
-aeromotive fpr
-aem fuel rail
-enthalphy tuned ecu
-gsp oilcooler
-cxracing fmic
-z32maf
have almost everything figured out thanks to all you guys. lots of info if you search the right places. also i will let you guys know how the cxracing kit holds on. heard it was crap, others say it's good (we'll see xD). takes sh***t load time to get stuff here, as it all has to come from america/canada. bought all the stuff, just waiting on it. will update pics when i get the stuff.
ps: if i miss anything please tell me. thank you

Re: portuguese 240 ka
also guys, got a question. i got this engine from a 91 that i blew and i'm gonna rebuilt for the turbo and i got a ka from a 96 witch is in the car now full stock. what i wanted to ask is, the intake mainfold of the 91ka has the butterflies, the 96ka doesn't. can i run the lower mainfold from the 91 on the 96 upper mainfold?
thank you
thank you

Re: portuguese 240 ka
fuel will be walbro255, aeromotive fpr, aem fuel rail, dynamics 850cc injectors and enthalpy tuned ecu. that's all there is to it right?
Re: portuguese 240 ka
Good start. I would get the 400lph walbro. That will keep up with your fuel demands.

Re: portuguese 240 ka
i thought about it also, but here in portugal i can't get them, and holland is out of stock till end of summer. so i'll start with the 255, see how she runs. if it's no good i'll swap them out. got a 240 from 89 with the single slammer that i want to build up after this one so it will come handy anyway. thanks

Re: portuguese 240 ka
well yeah. have to pay like almost 100bucks to get it here then when it gets here i have to pay 40% legalization taxes.for example, turbo kit costed 1300 bucks+300shipping, so when it get's here have to pay 600bucks for the legalization.also i don't know what you mean by ethanol, i only know pump. here we got 95octanes gas and 98oct gas. that's also a rip off, i heard you guys pay like 4/5 dollars a gallon, here in portugal it costs 1.78euro a liter so that makes it 6,72euros a gallon(almost 9 bucks xD)

Re: portuguese 240 ka
Ethanol (e85) is an alcohol generally produced from corn and used as a different type of fuel here in north america. Ah wow thats horrible, that makes sourcing parts pretty friggen hard eh. I thought I had it bad in Canada lol

Re: portuguese 240 ka
hey bud, I noticed that "Aeromotive" FPR, its a knock off. I hope you knew this buying the kit. Aeromotive doesnt sell their regulators in a kit like that, however the Chinese eBay kits do. I have this same exact kit off of ebay and had to replace most of the fittings, FPR is working great though. I just hope you didnt spend a lot of money on it...
anyway, nice parts list. Awesome! good luck with your build.

Re: portuguese 240 ka
little update. as block is at the machine shop still and crank is on it's way i started to paint the upper intake mainfold. same as tyrell did. love to see the black intake =D
Re: portuguese 240 ka
You've already used more paint than I have on my car! Hahaha. I may paint a bracket or two, though.
FPR is probably fine They're very simple devices. If it does what it's supposed to do without leaking, I wouldn't worry. Fitting are probably cheap though as S14ways pointed out. Good catch on that though, I wondered to myself where he got a kit with all the fittings in it. Didn't guess the knockoffs actually are counterfeit with the brandname and everything. That's intense!

Nice!
That black manifold looks good with the color of that rail. I wouldnt worry too much about cxracing stuff for now. Juts do what you are planning, swap the turbo when you get the cash to do so. This is looking good, keep it up!

Re: portuguese 240 ka
hell if i know xD ahahahahah just some cheap black metal paint, had it the garage with some other paint my dad bought once. As it's the intake it won't heat up that much so no need for heat resistant paint. gave it 4 layers of paint so it won't show the aluminium so easy xD.
