New beginning

Post by rtm240sx »

Over the last four years, I have been putting together my setup. Began with a cheap turbo setup, but decide to to it right the first time.

The eagle rods can hold 400+ and cost much less. They are the way to go.

Also, I would try to say with .020" overbore on the pistons. most machinists will recommend not to go .040" overbore when doing a boosted ka.

If you plan on turning higher RPMs then build the head, if not, then there's no need.

Just a couple tips. Looks good so far!

I always wonder about the power capabilities of eagle rods. I honestly think its far more than they say it is. I've never seen them break before. The only forged rod i've ever seen distorted was a crower, i forget what car it was in. But i know the rod bent, and he was still making passes with it, pulled the motor apart for some unrelated reason and realized it was bent lol. Idk, i wouldnt be surprised if you can get 800 out of em.
It's always broken.

and, if they ever fail, they bend instead of snapping. thats a plus in my book.

So just a sneak peek at what should be done in the next couple months, just got the car back out of storage. Should be interesting to see what it puts down at 20psi.

What issues are you experiencing? Is the compressor housing hitting the PS line bolt?

Power steering line is hitting the manifold. Tried a AN fitting but since I still have a/c line I can't use it.

Last year my 97 kouki got rear ended, I need a chassis to swap the motor into. I looked at numerous different options and tried to find another clean kouki but they were way over priced. I already had a R32 GTR so I had lots of stock parts laying around. So I decided to buy a R32 gtst and swap out the RB20 and swap in my fully built KA. This is the process it has made.

Found the R32 GTST on Japanese Classics website decided to buy it, though I will never buy a car from them again.

Image
Image

The car arrived January of last year. The car seemed to be just pieced together which didn’t bother me since I wanted to track the car. Plus the RB20 ran perfect.

Image
Image

I contacted the the guys at Full-lock llc to help me with the swap since I was super busy with work. They pulled the RB20 the first day the R32 showed up and I sold it the next day.

A s13 crossmember was sourced.

Now we are just waiting on the a wire harness from wiring specialties, then I’m taking the car to get retuned. Since the motor was already tuned on a AEM EMS V2 @19psi on 93oct but had cold start issues and the guys at full lock found it had a broken head stud and head gasket that was starting to go which was swapped for brand new arp studs and a cosworth HG.

That is a sick swap, gorgeous R32 chassis. Its one of my midlife crisis cars : )

Does the R32 bay have more room than the S chassis?

LMAO!! HELL NO!!! a while back a did a custom turbo kit in a R32 GT-R and....a s13 definitely has more room between the strut towers than the R chassis. Huge pain trying to stuff everything while keeping AC and PS. You’d think it would be the other way around since the R chassis is larger than our S-chassis...
