I started shopping around for a cat-back today. I want to retain the stock look of the exhaust, which has a dual tip muffler. The only manufacturers that make this style exhaust are ISIS ($300) and MeganRacing ($350) however, both are out of stock with no ETA on when the next batch will be made. I tried several sources and they are all waiting on the manufacturers. Instead of waiting around, I will do the same exact thing I did on my old GC8. I bought a cheapo eBay N1 style 3" cat-back and a stainless weld on muffler with dual tips and a 3" inlet. Total spent: $138

Just ordered a few more OEM parts as well:

- new master window switch / lock
- new finisher for the said window switch
- new shift boot cover

Total spent: you don't wanna know...

Metal is metal imo. As long as mandrel and 3" your good. Stop keeping tabs on the money, it will make you despise her.

Agreed. Yep, it's 3" all the way to the back. Oh trust me, I stopped keeping tabs a long time ago, it just amazes me how much certain OEM parts cost!

Small, trickling update:

Well, I dropped the transmission off last Monday @ a local shop for an overhaul. It had 214k miles on it so I did it just in case. My friend who's had good luck with them suggested to give them a try, so I did. In the meantime, I sand blasted the mounting bracket and exhaust hangar bracket that bolts up to it. I'm going to be powder coating these gloss black and will go back on with a Nismo transmission mount.

Since I will not be powder coating in my garage anymore (that **** goes everywhere!), I've decided to buy a small vinyl shed (4'x6'x6') to do this outside. I might move the sand blasting cabinet into that as well. Either way, I'm just glad I'll finally have a spot to spray the powder.

Finally clocked the vacuum nipple on the FPR:

My failed attempt at trying to powder coat my original TB led me to pull another one off of my spare IM. It's amazing what SimpleGreen and a little elbow grease will do with 214k miles worth of build up. I was going to drop it in a ultrasonic cleaner but I would've ruined the bearings inside:

Did a quick mock up of the charge piping. This is without the transmission so the motor angle is all wrong. I just wanted to see what it would look like. As you can see, the cold pipe will just need to be cut shorter and it should fit. The hot pipe will need slight modification to extend and change the angle a bit. I'm quite excited to see how well the throttle response will be with such short piping:

And I finally built my storage / PC shop. It even came with metal roof supports I can use to ground the parts I will be coating:

Oh, and my buddy let me try out some welding with a MIG. He started on the right and stopped, I started back at the middle where I couldn't really see. I corrected my position and laid the rest of the bead on the left. This was done on his machine. We'll be trying my MIG out once the transmission is back in and we can start the downpipe. I picked up a mask, gloves and a bottle of gas :)

The powder coating looks very nice. I've wanted to get into that for a long time now.
Wiseco/Eagle, JWT S1 cams, BC valve springs, PT5857, ID1700 injectors, SR20DET ECU w/ Nismotronic, COP conversion with LS ignition coils, etc, etc...

Thanks bud. If you've never tried it, I suggest you give it a whirl. Caution though, you'll want to PC everything and anything that's metal lol

Definitely, she sat for too long. That's a PeakBoost manifold, I was lucky I even got it because a few weeks later the company went out of business. From what I've read, it was an ugly one because they took a bunch of paid pre-orders and the owner dipped. If you're looking for a good quality manifold that fits right, I suggest the DOC Racing one. I wish I would've waited it out and got that one instead.

I did put some more work into it yesterday. I sand blasted a few miscellaneous intake manifold brackets and the alternator and P/S brackets I've spray painted a few years back and then powder coated it all with gloss back:

Next on the list is my P/S system. A few pages back, I made a list of all the stuff needed to convert the lines to -AN. I ordered the wrong hose ends for the high pressure line (fixed now). Here are all the parts in one picture:

I'm going to ask one of the local fabricators to shorten the power steering reservoir for me as it's waaay too long:

Very cool. How much is the power steering setup going to run you? I've been looking at the Chase Bay's setup for several years. Just wondering how your setup compares, price-wise

SummitRacing wiped out my Order History but I remember that it was a little over $300. Poormans180sx is selling a really nice kit for $460 and it includes a nice modified KRC reservoir w/ a filter which alone is $220 ( http://zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=608795 ) I actually spoke with them about my setup and they said that it might be good for a street car but I might experience issues at the track with snap-back during quick steering input. They said that they've spent over $1k in fittings trying to get theirs to work properly and it's mainly because of the restrictors. I ended up getting the part # for the KRC restrictor they use on the P/S outlet for the high pressure line. They modified the reservoir by installing a restrictor on the return line because they were spewing fluid from the filler neck. My guess is that the built in baffle/filter in that reservoir was causing it to overflow. After having a talk with them, I'm a bit skeptical about my setup. I guess time will tell huh?

I got them from a Nissan vendor on eBay. Their name is: fastpartshipping. I picked it up for $199 shipped. I think that there are 2 different kind of switches for the S14 so be sure to double check your OEM part #s. You can always call Nissan and give them your VIN and they'll find the right one for you. Then just search the web for that part number and find your best deal.

If you're looking to save some $, create a WTB thread on Zilvia and you'll be able to pick up a used one for ~$80-100. Again, be sure to get pics of the switch and compare it to yours.

Not much done today, but to me it's progress :) Got the P/S cooler mounted up and ran the return from the rack to it. Still waiting on someone local to customize my reservoir for me. Without it I can't finish the rest of the plumbing.

I'd love to, but I'm way under-qualified to run a shop lol.

Another update & more progress! Got the transmission back from the shop. I still have to replace the sensors on it which I already have, but other than that it's ready to go. I have to borrow an engine hoist again from my friend, pull the motor, install the Nismo pilot bushing, mount the transmission up and drop it back in the chassis:

I met up with a local welder this afternoon and got the P/S reservoir shortened and mounted to the stock P/S bracket! He did a really good job on it and I couldn't be more happy with the results. All it cost me was a 12-pack of some IPAs (I also tossed him $40)

Got some more **** done today after I got home from work. The P/S system is nearly completed. The transmission has to be in the car so I can cut and assemble the last hose, which is the feed to the pump. Next up is the intake and exhaust piping.

Thank you and yes, the project is still going just not right now. My garage was never setup for winter fun so I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit. I could be using a torpedo / space heater of some sort but I hate how it makes everything 'sweat' once it gets warm inside the garage. The plan is to run a gas line to the garage and have heat in there 24/7. That's on the to-do list. For now, I'm relaxing.
