ka24de/e stock ignition cure/map.

Post by Adrenalin »

Hey guys, I asked this in sohc kat section but maybe this is a better spot. Does anyone know of or have a stock ignition curve or map for ka24de or ka24e?

Many thanks.

This is a timing map for a S13 KA24DE:

Let me double check it but I'm almost positive that's the stock map.

Meant to respond but never got there. I would feel comfortable using the ka24de map as a safe start. The combustion chamber design for the single jingles dictate that we will have a few degrees more advance than dohc kas. For reference, peak torque and 0 psi, I run 26 (or maybe 28) degrees (where the dohc shows about 24).

According to my notes, that is the map for a '91 KA24DE manual trans.

No that's great. Not doubting you guys, I was just a little surprised at the the amount and quick increase of advance at low rpm.

Excellent info. Many thanks. I'm sure this will help.

Great, now I have something to base my single cam maps off of, not just random guessing! 8)

How does the load relate to psi or kpa? Any conversion that would be useful?

EDIT:
My only concern now is the drastic differences I have noticed in the mid rpm, mid load range compared to my map that I beat the crap out of with no reliability issues or signs of detonation.. After translating that map to my tunerstudio map, I am seeing up to 10 degrees difference and more in other places. I do know that I didn't translate that map as seen above perfectly over to my 12x12 map, but that is a big difference in timing, big enough where I lowered the majority of it by a few degrees. I will attach the tune that i modified from the stock one provided in this thread so you guys can take a look if you'd like.

If you are using a MegaSquirt, grab the timing map from the MSPNP base maps.

We didn't try translating the stock map into MegaSquirt format; they were generated by dyno tuning relatively stock engines.

Awesome, Matt! Great link there, i'm not sure how i haven't stumbled upon that yet, but that sure answers my questions. I feel much better about my ignition map now!
