Good. I hope they make things right.

Tuning isn't rocket science, but it isn't exactly easy either. I've been running Nistune for over 8 years and I still have trouble with it sometimes.

Pulled the motor and sold the white shell the same day, in between shopping with the mother-in-law and wife.
I drained all the fluids and pulled the some easy stuff the night before though.
ignore the facebook filter haha
Image
pulled
Image
sold
Image
put the motor in its temporary home to fix all the minor things that bother me about the motor (leaks, hoses, hardware, mounting)
Image
pulled the intake manifold off to replace it because I didn't like the way it was done up. Also swapped out the oil block.

oil pressure sender doesn't seem to fit, so I either have to relocate it or get a new sensor/gauge kit. I decided to relocate it (parts on order)
Image

So as of now I am waiting on parts to finish up the intake side of the motor.
After I this is completed I have a few other things to do:
-exhaust side fixes
--turbo oil drain/oil pan
--heat wrapping mainifold/downpipe/hoses
-engine harness rebuild/reloom

Car looks good Wes. Injectors are working well now, I assume? That's some crazy steering angle. What brand are those tension rods? And did you mod the LCA's yourself?

Thanks Adam! I haven't been able to test the injectors as of yet because I have not dropped the boosted motor into the car. I plan on having it swapped in before the end of May. After this next drift event, May 7th, I'm going to start wrenching away. Yeah the angle is wild! It takes a bit of getting used to while driving on the highway, "Very small inputs." On the airplanes I work on we have a diverter system for the rudder system hydraulic pressure. The theory is that the slower you are flying the more input is acceptable, and the faster you are flying requires less pressure. If you had full pressure while flying full speed and pushed the rudder abruptly it would cause major damage to it. I wish I could put a small system like that on my car, have it on a switch for street driving and track driving. The tension rods are ISR pro, and the LCA were done up by a shop here in Little Rock AR. Hoon Performance, its run by Chris Burgunder. If you ask him about this kit he will tell you that he isn't happy with it because he didn't get to use his new plates he had ordered over a month ago. The plates were supposed to be used to box the LCA, he ordered them from a shop that does water jet work. I feel like his work is phenomenal. He is modest and a perfectionist. I wish I could fab like you or him but sadly I'm just a bolt on and bolt off kinda guy.

Update:

I've SUPER busy with life. I got into some trouble on base so I had to handle that for a few weeks. Ended up walking away with no serious issues from that. I work late nights (3rd shift) and get very little time in the day to work on my car. I've moved sections and am currently trying to get spun up. But I did get a lot done over the past weekend though.

Pulled running non-built motor

Transmission looks pretty good, considering all the banging I've done on this bad girl.

Side project, making an engine/transmission/sensor wire harness into one. The plan is to have everything run into this one harness, wideband, oil temp/pressure, coolant temp, etc etc. I want to integrate a plug near the ECU plug for similar to the "dash interface plug" from S13 but for aftermarket sensors.

I ended up using push loc hose and fittings.

So it seems as though that Facebook being my image hosting site was a terrible idea. Also I have been VERY busy with working on the car daily, a new position at the base, and getting ready for deployment. Things are caught up and I'll be posting pictures and videos soon. Guess I'm just updating to say I will fix the pictures soon as well as update.

Drift event in Memphis August 19th that I will be attending so I'll have video from that as well.

The photo update...
(Trying to put them in chronological order)
I'm currently working out of country so haven't had time to play with the car.

I built the motor a couple years ago, sold it to a friend cause I was moving out of country. Then he put it in this car and got it running. Decided he didn't want to play with it anymore and sold it back to me.

Update

HUGE SHOUT-OUT to Chris B. from HOONperformance LLC here in Arkansas. This man is nothing but a perfectionist when it comes to his work. His craftsmanship can been seen on any of the cars in our area that he has been able to grace with his finesse. I have yet to see anything he puts his name on fail in any way.

Just a short while longer and I'll be back in the saddle boys. I'm getting a bit antsy.

Bit of a technical question for you turbo KA gurus.
My turbo coolant feed is coming from the block under the exhaust ports, OEM engine coolant drain port.
Turbo coolant return, where do you have the turbo coolant return routed to?

Here is Tomei`s answer
Image
Tomei has it going to the upper radiator (engine coolant return) hose. I feel this is a great option but less "clean" looking.

Here is a member from here solution.
Image
I like it because it puts the coolant to the back of the thermostat. This is more closely to how the factory routing for the SR20DET is. Again I feel like this is also a great option.

What are your thoughts on both options? What do you feel is the best option?

That little welded pipe thingy looks cool.....

I run journal bearing only so I don't really worry much about coolant lines etc and I'm no guru by any means....

..... but the way I look at it is that when turbo charging it all becomes one system....... the turbo kit and the engine become one.....

....so any way you think you can hook it up, it should work just as long as you don't get air in the system or coolant leaks.

Most companies have their rule of them when plumbing but a lot of what you read online is anecdotal so try many things and find out what works for you.

Here on Page 6 Garrett Discusses the methods the recommend in coolant routing http://turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarret ... ooling.pdf

Either way it sounds like you got it right, already.
