Honestly If I were you I would disassemble the motor and reassemble it with your father who has a little more experience. You def do not want to start this thing and waste 3K. Even though there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the lower end I would have him take a look at that too just to be su...

Turboing the E36 is very easy and some what affordable. I have an E36 M and produce a turbo kit for it. Basic E36 Turbo kit is about 7K and that is with tuning and fueling. 17-18psi we easily make 600whp on the S52. I would say turbocharing is much more preferred over supercharging among BMW enthusi...

I would hook up a fuel pressure gauge outside the car. Maybe even tape it to the windshield and then do a couple pulls under load and see if the fuel pressure drops. Also see the base pressure at idle.

We have not serviced the turbo yet at all and its working well. The car is used as a daily driver. It also sees some track events. The car gets run hard on the street, harder than most.

Like I said we have a car running one in a daily driver with 5,000miles on it. Service intervals are simple and pretty much just a re-greasing. They are trying to have it so dealers can just do it so you dont have to send them back to Comp. As far as service intervals it depends on how the turbo is ...

Pull it apart sand blast every thing and lay down a good primer followed by a nice black top coat. Its the only way for a rust free return. Add new bushings and an LSD while you are in there.

I deal with comp as well. Very nice turbochargers. The Oil-less units have been working out very well. We have a unit with about 5,000miles on it and it is working flawlessly. They are not that expensive.

First make sure it has a proper vacuum line going to it. Secondly I would hook up a fuel pressure tester or gauge and either tape it outside of the car to the windshield or get back on the dyno and make a couple pulls under load and watch it. If the pressure starts out at like 43psi or so and drops ...

You did not have to anneal it before you worked it correct? Like the design to, its gonna flow sweet in and out of that core.
