Re: Bad valve seals?

Damn I just thought about it, it's also possible my seals in my turbo have gone bad? Causing oil to be burned through the turbo into the exhaust? Is that also a possibility? I would really like to explore all options before I start taking apart the head (Never done before).

Bad valve seals?

Hey guys, looking for some advice before I embark on an engine pull/rebuild.. My s13 has recently been boosted and running.. I've just recently developed MAJOR smoking at start-up and light throttles. It kinda alleviates once the motor reaches normal operating temps and start to drive. There is defi...

Re: T3 turbo off a 86 300zx help.

You shouldn't have any problems reaching the 200-220hp mark. That turbo has an internal wastegate correct? As far as the downpipe goes it will all have to depend on the manifold your using. Top mount, bottom mount etc? In most cases it's easier to have a downpipe made custom because of clearance iss...

Re: What Downpipe are you guys using?

Wow, thats a nice downpipe.. seems pretty steeply priced though! 475$ ouch! To OP woth it being a bottom mount you shouldnt have much trouble using a prefabbed ebay one or something along those lines. Most of the issues come feom top mounts because you want to maximize clearence it all directions es...

Re: Cam timing jumped?

Yeah man, this **** kinda sucks because I don't feel experienced enough to properly troubleshoot an issue like this. This is my first build pretty much with any vehicle. I've been reading endlessly about how the individual parts interact with each other but a lot of things are still grey areas to me...

Re: Cam timing jumped?

Yes ive checked compression, and it was 150 across all four cylinders from about 5 cranks ( 5 ish- seconds). Iv'e also pulled the fuel rail off and have seen that the injectors "squirt" all simultaneously during cranking. They are not getting stuck open which I had originally thought was t...

Re: Cam timing jumped?

So it doesn't matter weather the marks line up in between the links or not? because I really don't want to take off the front covers and mess with the chains if I don't HAVE to. Would the lower guide and lose tension cause a no start thtough? that's really the symptom that im trying to correct and i...

Re: Cam timing jumped?

If you save the picture you will be able to see it completely. Hmmm, I had never actually messed with the timing chains at all since I've got the car and it was running. PRetty strongly actually, what would cause something like this? I guess I will have to look into fixing it then..

Custom downpipe. Top-mount turbo, 3". Was 150$ from a local welder. He did an excellent job with making it.

Cam timing jumped?

Ok, I'm in the process of trouble shooting my 1991 240sx. I have a couple threads in the basic section at the moment but instead of using only one thread I thought I would have the best results with separate threads for separate topics. Here are my other 2 threads before this to maybe get an underst...

Re: Injector signal voltage?

Ok.. Got some time with the ride tonight. Got some results for yall.. I pulled the fuel rail, the #2 injector was not seated right. Leaked with the ignition on. Fixed. No start. I had a spare set of stock injectors in at this point, #2 and #3 injectors were not firing while cranking. Switched the ha...

Re: Injector signal voltage?

Ok so with that being said, it would appear that there is a problem with the way the ECU is grounding the injector? Whether or not its from a bad ECU or some other component. Y

Re: Injector signal voltage?

So there still shouldn't be 12v (red wire) to the injectors without the key even in the ignition? Im assuming I should check that out to see why power is being sent there with the key out. I have a feeling my distributor my be bad also, do you think if that's bad with the CAS inside of it, it could ...

Re: Injector signal voltage?

The car is stock wired. I haven't really even messed with any of the factory wiring except for my z32 MAF, relocating the battery to the trunk, adding some circuits for my gauges, and some electrical fans.. The car was running after all that was done as well. With no key even in the ignition im gett...

Re: Injector signal voltage?

With n key even in the ignition: Red: 12v to ground. Signal: 0v to ground. With ignition on: Red: 12v to ground. Signal: 0v to ground Red to signal: 12v , then continuously drops to 0v. Then if I go from signal to ground right after it will read the signal being a positive voltage and same continuou...

Injector signal voltage?

Ok, quick question.. Im going through a trouble shooting process and I noticed something that seemed pretty strange to me. From what I understand each injector has a 12v source (red wire), and a signal wire (green, white, yellow, black, etc). Here is the link to my original post: http://www.ka-t.org...

Ok, an update.. Sorry for the delay, I had spent a couple days doing my suspension (wheels/coils). And other than that I've been very busy with work and other personal ishh. Anyways, I had found my #1, and #2 lower injector O-rings were bad. Once again. Most likely from the amount of times I've pull...

Re: Timing retarding 8*? (Nistune)

Ok! Update.. I Pulled the distributor to find that the cap and rotor were ***** up. The metal tap on the inside that gets the spark from the ignition coil was bent and scraping the inside of the cap. It also has a break in it. I did the best I could to bend it back just until I get a new cap and rot...

Re: Timing retarding 8*? (Nistune)

Well the only reason I put the resistors for the knock sensor was just to rule it out that it wasn't the reason timing was being retarded like that.. And it does not seem to be the issue because after it was bypassed and no longer throwing the code it was still doing the same thing. Im not sure what...

Re: Timing retarding 8*? (Nistune)

Well, I have the knock sensor bypassed atm with resistors. I no longer get code 34 so I would imagine that's not the reason for the timing retard? I have checked the timing at the distributor, the pulley and the firing order.. all seem to be correct. If you would like tomorrow I can snap a picture o...

Ok, so as simple as possible (will provide more information if needed) , I'm in the process of trying to get my ka-t set up running.. Please someone, FUEL FLOODING CYLINDERS!

Ok, Im going through quite a bit of overwhelming problems.. It's really starting to discourage me. On the first start up, with stock maps the motor was be...

Do I have a problem? Altima KA24DE?

Ok...I'm pretty nervous about this, and I did not search this topic, I'm just reaching for the answers that I'm hoping for. I'm getting ready to send out my CPU to Nistune, and I decide to look up my CPU # just to double check I need the TYPE-3 board. JA11C33E47 is the code that's on my ECU. Seems a...

Ok! I'm going to apologize in advance for all the rambling I'm about to do. I just attempted my first start up. I had all the fluids completely emptied (coolant/oil) , So I poured new coolant, and oil (rotella 15-40) before start. After a few minutes of the motor turning over, the smell of gasoline ...
