Driveability problem fixed
So the check engine light came on in my 95 S14 and my gas mielage dropped to like 18mpg and I had idle issues. Datascan showed code 76 and I followed the procedure listed in the FSM. Problem was the connector to my O2 sensor was cracked and the shielding wire was touching the O2 sensor wire. It was ...

I had a similar problem with my s14 and the problem ended up being the radiator. It was clogged and had a lot of buildup on the inside. The wa I found out was put my hand behind the electric fan and most of the air was warm but there was one hot spot on the bottom. I replaced the radiator and its be...

I don't know how much you know about a/c compressors, so I'm going to be as thorough as possible. Start your car up and leave the a/c off. Go look at your a/c compressor and you will see that the pulley is spinning, but the pressure plate on front of the compressor is not. When you cut the a/c on 1...

AC Compessor noise.
I replaced my engine a few months ago and now when I turn my Ac on it works fine but after it runs a while it start to mae a squealing noise at idle. The belt is tight and I have tried lubricating the clutch area with WD-40. It also continues to whine a few seconds after I turn the car off. Any idea...

Figured it out guys. Thanks for the replies. It was the oil pressure regulator. I dropped the oil pan and replaced it. It was getting stuck. Getting the oil pan off wasnt as much of an ordeal as people make it out to be. I lifted it using a floor jack and I had the pan off in about an hour. Putting ...

Thanks for the replies guys. The engine was assembled by me. The blocked was bored and honed at a machine shop and the crank was polished and mic'd to check the clearances on the journals. I verified the clearances with plastigauge. I tried another filter and the same thing happens and I verified th...

Oil Pump drive collar
I am in the process of assembling my engine and the oil pump drive collar does not want to slide onto the crank very easily. Should I have to drive it on with a mallet or is something wrong with it?

Damaged piston ring
Long story short I damaged one of my bottom rings when installing my pistons. It was the bottom oil ring and its slightly bent as you can see in the picture below. It will still go on the piston and in the bore but I want to know if I should replace it. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn131/kohan...

I bought my 180 a few months ago on craigslist but its the one with the digital display and I love it. I like the high duty cycle on it for making long welds at high amperage and I like to be able to stick weld with it. I paid about the same price for it. For people saying get the diversion you have...

Not to sound like a douche but I researched the same thing a few months ago and here is the conclusion I came to: There may be 10 people that have done the swap and of those maybe 1 has a dyno comparison. Mostly what your gonna find is a lot of people quoting/misquoting what they heard/read. Im sure...

flux core welds SUCK Flux core welds dont suck. Given the same amperage and the same wire diameter they offer greater penetration that mig welding. Its moreso aobut your technique. Now they do produce more spatter and dont give the stack of dimes look in most situations but in the hands of a good w...

Gold coated lenses and Lanthanated Tungsten
Today I bought a gold coated lense for my large view fixed shade helmet and I must say its awesome. I can see so much better and it shows in my weld quality. They are fairly inexpensive at airgas with contractor pricing and that purchase has probably been one of my best improvements so far. I also p...

I just dont like the view from the lense. The fixed shade hood that I have came with my Mig welder and it makes the puddle appear orange and its very easy to see the weld puddle from the surrounding light. This is especially useful when welding flux core or stick. I guess Im going to sell this thing...
