Re: S14 ka24de chain kit + front cover/oil pump recommendati
I didn't total anything up because of how many things I've got going on at once but I know after the timing parts, ARP studs, clutch/fw, and fluids I'm up near or over the $1k mark.
I've got a 5 speed swap, engine rebuild, and suspension overhaul going on all at the same time.

I'm in the process of an engine rebuild in the daily and unfortunately for my bank account I went with OEM parts as well.
I also went with all ARP hardware so I don't have to do worry about anything if I wake up one day and bolt turbo bits to it like it's a great idea.

Subscribed as well. I have 3 cars with doodoo OEM harnesses that need help. It's sad how many cars I see with electrical issues due to the stock wiring going to **** over time.

I'm leaving my head alone but have a lot of parts similar to your list now. I'm going to port my stock intake manifold instead of messing with the Xcessive Unit and spending that money elsewhere. I'm going to run a BW EFR turbo and meth, tuning with Nismotronic, and shooting for a 400hp Daily Driver...

Re: My KA Machining/Build Thread *Opinions welcomed*
I just noticed that your drain bung that you welded into the pan was parallel with the lip of the pan. The engine sitting at an angle in the bay means that now the oil has to drain down and slightly back up to get out of your drain line. That could cause some issues for you in the future. If you've ...

There is a shop in the Pcola area called Driven Performance if I remember the name right. They have a tuner named Anthony Berry that may be able to help you out. Nickname is Drunkmann. The Subaru and Evo guys fly him all over the country for tunes and I've never met a customer that didn't love his w...

I guess I'm gonna put the +$400 towards an ATI Super Damper for the time being since I'm going to be doing startup, break-in, and the first tune with a 240/248 setup.
I need to get this build finished already but I know rushing things won't do me any good.

Re: What is the correct way to modify my car?
I always do suspension first.
Start out on your stock wheels and use decent tires up front if you can. I wouldn't over inflate the tires. An even contact patch will help you learn control better and your tires will most likely last longer. Longer lasting tires means more time in the seat.

Re: What is the correct way to modify my car?
Stock KA cars shred at the track all day on drift days. Some of the people at our local events have been NA KA for more than 2 years now and some still out-do the guys with power. Best I can say is upgrade exhaust to either a 2.5" or 3" catback and get more seat time at the drift events be...

What valvetrain is everyone using?
Almost finished piecing together my build and was just curious what valvetrain everyone was using these days. I remember Matt Powers was using B18 valve springs at one time and have heard that CA18 and VG30's use the same spring as the KA does but I'm curious what everyone is actually using and havi...

@Cleantune, I've actually just recently added all of the GK Tech goodies to the car. I was running on stock knuckles with hand made adjustables and SPL RUCA's for years. The install of the drop knuckles was pretty easy because I was swapping out Rear LCA's and knuckles at the same time, no busting o...

I'm not a suspension expert but I do concentrate on understanding the different issues that I run into with my car. I've dealt with and fixed lack of traction in the rear and front tires pushing thru corners at high speeds but I think those are fixed now. I've got an S13 coupe with... Fortune Auto 5...

OSK and OEM Timing components
Time to purchase a new timing kit for the build and I considered using the OSK kit and buying new cam gears separately since it doesn't come with absolutely everything in one kit. My real question is this... On the FR Sport site it says for 95-98 240sx and the engine I'm building is out of a 1991, a...

I'm shopping the Borg Warner EFR lineup. Hard part is trying to decide how much lag I'm willing to deal with. I'm not looking for a 500hp daily driver so I'm shopping between the 6758, 7064, and 7163. I need to do some more researching and try to plot the compressor maps when I get the time off of w...

I'm considering Speedhut as well since I plan on using their GPS speedometer but I've got my old Defi BF gauges sitting around still so I'm on the fence. If I can find more of the BF gauges I'll stay with Defi.

They both sell the OEM chain and can most likely help you out with that.

Maybe my response will bump this up and someone else will give it a good read.

Old skool Trust/Greddy PE II
Sounds like a little v8, especially during downshifts and engine braking. I'll be hanging it up until I finish my turbo build though. I've got a 2.5" Magnaflow muffler that I'm about to make a new exhaust setup with.
