Re: Cory AKA Nissanfanatic's old car
I just happened to look on the boards after quite a while. Seeing this thread brought a smile to my face. Life just kind of happened over and over again and I never got around to any of the plans I had to rebuild the car. It got to this state in the midst of a plan to build it into a chumpcar. At th...

Re: car will not start...
The easy way to test it is to hook a multimeter up to test voltage at the starter positive input and turn the key, if it has 12v then the everything is working to get 12v to the starter. Next test resistance between the starter and a chassis ground. It should be very low; less than one ohm. If that ...

Re: Starting my KA24DE-t build soon. Advice needed!
I always stuck to 1bar of boost on pump gas, which made 350whp on both of my turbo setups on stock internals. If you want more power past what your car makes at 1 bar, an increase in volumetric efficiency is the only way to go reliably IMO. I always attributed my car's power at 1bar to good exhaust ...

The best thing you can do is read every new post that comes up on here and google anything that you have a question about. Think about something that you are fairly skilled at currently: chess, baseball, weightlifting, etc. Now, imagine someone that is brand new at that activity and try to explain t...

Re: 3" exhaust worth it on T25?
The ideal exhaust post turbine is no exhaust. So, the bigger the better but there is a point of diminishing returns. I don't see any problem as long as the exhaust isn't smaller than the turbine discharge flange size.

Re: Adam's formerly supercharged... now soon-to-be-turbo'd,
I would use Mobil 1 0w-40 or Rotella 5w-40. I run Rotella in every car I own except for the S2000 which gets Motul 300v. Roger that. I'm shooting for 500-600 whp on high boost, so thicker oil is probably a good idea. And I know a lot of folks on here run Rotella with E85 and don't experience these ...

Re: Royal Purple Oil Filter
Tried one on the S2000. From reading about them they are pretty high quality. They are made by Champion filters IIRC. I ended up just going back to OEM filters.
On the KA I'd probably just stick with Purolators. They are pretty tried and true.

Re: Clevite Bearing sizes
Pretty common issue. Most of them do work for average, everyday stuff. And it can come down to what machinist you get too. Just like a barber shop, the cut is all in the barber not the shop. You may search locally for a specific person and go to that guy only.

Re: What exhaust for 500hp
I would just do straight pipe of the same diameter or larger than your turbine housing discharge. If it is too loud for you then you could always throw a Dynomax ultra flo or a race bullet in line.

Re: ka-t running hot.
I always switch to a 70% distilled water/30% coolant mixture on any car that I own(every car in my signature). In my S2000 that is a TT/HPDE only car, I run 100% distilled water with one bottle of Motul Mocool. Back when I first bought the S2000, it overheated on track so I decided to flush the cool...

Re: Fastest 10second car?
Thanks for the replies so far! I like the KA's too for ease but I am thinking about staying away from a 4 cylinder just because of the boost amounts we run to get high hp really works the engines hard compared to lower boost on something bigger. My girlfriend drives a G and yeah they're very tight ...

Re: Fastest 10second car?
I have a G35 sport edition. My opinion: if you get one, just enjoy it stock. I'd never want to work on that fcuker... Change the oil RELIGIOUSLY at 3000 miles with Rotella 5w-40 because they are hard on oil. Fairly fun to drift and really nice to ride in for long periods of time. Other than that the...

Re: high boost pump gas question
I run 20psi daily and high boost depends on the barometric pressure since my WG map is open loop. I typically hit 28psi but have hit 34psi (9* timing) with no knock or lean outs (11.3afr). I need to put on closed loop but haven't had time to st it up correctly. I am lucky to have corn only 10 minut...

Re: Oiling issue?
Ok so changing the oil weight will explain why it is always the number3 rod?? #3 rod has always been the first to go on KA's. Reasoning is probably due to it receiving the lowest amount of oil flow. The oils I mentioned have produced very good wear numbers on numerous engines under extreme duty suc...

Subarus tend to be pretty hard on oil, but M1 5w-30/10w-30 tend to shear down very fast.
Switch to something a little more robust like M1 0w-40/Rotella T6/German Castrol. They are probably cheaper as well.

Re: anybody road race?
I'd think anything that is at full boost 4000rpm+ is going to do fine. It is a lot more important to have something that offers good transient response, not necessarily something with a low boost threshold. Road racing brings in a lot more longevity/preservation issues. It is a lot more important to...
