Re: p00t's long winded journal from the beginning of time
Some pictures from the work I did over the winter. There are a lot of pictures I didn't take of all the details done. I was fighting too much to make the stock tensioners work so I used spherical bearings, new elbow for the power steering connections... etc. I made new brackets for the alternator (m...

How did you sheer the teeth off? These diffs are so damn strong... I am attempting to go off of memory here... There was too much homework involved but from what I remember I swapped in a s15 helical and it fit in the 1st gen Q45 differential directly using the s15 output shafts. The output shafts f...

I went through my collection of tunes that I have gathered and put them in a directory for you. Most are from 8bit's post, and much credit goes to 8bit for pitching in for the community! There are some mystery ones in there which I left because sometimes we wind up with odd sized injectors. I tried ...

Re: Adjusted Idle, now runs like trash.
If you adjust throttle body screw your throttle sensor needs to be adjusted to 0.46-0.48v at closed throttle. Otherwise the ECU loses track of closed/open throttle and will not drive well.

Re: Ebay KA24 SOHC turbo kit.....at least a good starting point?
If you want to try to go fast with cheap Ebay stuff it will at least move you around faster. Some are junk. Some are copies that do work. I couldn't tell you which is best in that area. You have left out a way to tune timing and that will break your engine even with 200hp. Best to get an ECU that yo...

Re: Coil On Plug Conversion for Stock ECU
Good to hear. I was thinking it was setting the light after reading your post. It does not affect anything. It must have the most basic logic case to set that code... How would an engine run without the coil operating (besides a COP conversion)? When I was a Nissan mechanic (for a brief moment in hi...

Re: Coil On Plug Conversion for Stock ECU
Shiny the install looks real clean! The ECU will throw a code for ignition coil but it should not cause the light to be on. You are just seeing the code when you scan right? You are correct that it no longer sees the single coil go negative. For timing the ECU has to go into timing mode to lock in 2...

Re: Best ways to run oil/water lines
I've been sourcing coolant from the drain plug on the block and sending it back to the upper radiator hose. Using 1/2" heater hose and some heat sleeves near the turbo.
I'm interested in seeing some solid lines or AN/braided lines. It's a good topic to start!

Great numbers!
I'm guessing you are right about the exhaust side choking it off and not allowing you to use up all of the compressor available. You might only gain a few HP with boost increase but your torque peak should still climb.
Are you still rolling on stock wheels with that power?

Re: Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator Help
Is the gauge working okay? Check against another gauge somehow. Are the lines hooked up in the right way? Make sure you are not flowing into the return port. You might want to contact the manufacturer if you still have warranty and everything is okay above. If no warranty take the top half of the re...

It's just automatically mapped for LS and maxima coils so you just set it and go. You can run the K series coils with the fixed dwell setting since there is very little dwell change with voltage on those from what I see. You will be okay setting them to 3ms from what I see here: https://support.halt...

I can make them. I need to order the PCB boards. I sold all the ones I had. I guess I should just order them so people don't have to wait. They ran in two of my cars for years. Still in my 240 and running great. One person has posted his car running on max coils but that's the limit of outside feedb...

I had the same exact issue with the boot on my B&M shifter before I switched to Z32 trans as well. Replaced it and it got brittle and cracked again. Even used a B&M branded replacement. Hope you find a fix as it really pissed me off. Z32 trans is way cleaner. I got my new boot from "co...

So the plot thickens sort of... I checked out an s13 due to curiosity... The same thing is happening except instead of a resistor in the cluster it uses the bulb check relay coil. Hmm. So the current through the bulb/resistor is just enough to turn the circuits on inside the alternator. 100 ohm resi...

Re: Ka24de alternator charge light help
I had no idea about the resistor in parallel with the bulb. Interesting. But the alternator finds it's voltage on the sense line that is connected to the battery. The alternator should just be using the bulb for diagnostics. It is possible the resistor plays a part in whether the bulb accurately lig...

Importdude: I was looking at your post and realized the shops who get the big bucks: 1. Bore out that hole all the way vertically to clear the washer (and leave the lifter bucket bore thin in a spot) 2. Or they grind away key areas on the underside of the lifter bucket bore to be able to slip those ...

This is a really great comparison (both the actual change and the method by which you are comparing them).
Are these plots just driving around or one pull to redline? Why are there a few "high fliers" at low boost?

That is a pretty clean engine bay for a work truck with 200k+ on it!
I caught the stove piping on the intake... Project Stovepipe maybe? I would replace that with a real pipe at some point because that pipe is not airtight and you will get unfiltered stuff through to the turbo.

I've run more clearance on the stockers and BC stage 2's than .012" it shouldn't cause issues. You will likely lose a little of the specified duration and lift.

Re: Possible cause of metallic noise?
If the noise doesn't follow RPM it should be something not tied to the crank in some way. Which doesn't leave much. Could it just be a loose part on the engine? Exhaust? A bracket or something? The line on the tensioner looks like it's part of the manufacturing process. Chains typically leave a wear...
