280zx 300zx turbos

Anyone familiar with such? I am rebuilding a 280zx t3 turbo to use on my ka-t datsun i am using a tial 38mm wastegate and 3inch down pipe will it be ok at 10 psi or will that be pushing it. Its hard to find much info on these factory turbos

15psi is pushing it imo. Those are straight up T3 turbo. I know my friend pushed 16psi on his z31 with this. After 14psi, I say they get inefficient. So, 10psi will be fine.

If you want to maximize the power output of the turbo or engine, you should know the compressor map of the turbo. That way you'll know exactly what's going on and you'll know the efficiency range of the turbo.

I'm learning most of this myself, but I know that getting the wrong turbo and simply turning up the boost doesn't always equate being faster for various reasons.

So set your goals first and then get the parts to efficiently accomplish that.

Agreed, after said psi it'll start to just pump inefficient hot air.

just FYI you want the earlier version turbos for either motor, those are Super60's where as later versions are just t28s with t3 flanges.

also only difference between the z31 and s130 super60 is s130 (280zx) didnt have water ports on the turbo. on a ka they make nice torque

Mine is the early zx turbo without the water jacket. I do know that this very turbo made very very close to 300whp in a 510 with a FJ20det
