Tuning/Dyno prep?

Post by modulation »

Gonna take my new build to the dyno Friday and try and get ignition timing perfected.
Got my AFRs dialed in, and gonna start at 16psi on a GT2876R and hopefully go to about 18 psi, and then try 15 degrees of timing, and go up a degree from there until power gains start falling off.

I did a boost leak test last night, plugs are less then a coupe of thousand miles old, and gapped down small. Any advice from others who have been through this before?

My car was on a dyno recently, and I did the following.

-New plugs, gapped to .028"
-Oil Change
-New wideband 02 sensor
-Boost leak test to 30PSI

Also, im no tuner but I hope you're on E85 for 15 degrees of timing at 18PSI. That seems REAL aggressive.

93 octane fuel, and 18psi on a GT2876r not a T3, and I have a 1.0mm head gasket and -22cc wiseco pistons, so I figure compression ratio is 8.7:1 or lower. I've been running 17psi on the street and haven't heard any knock yet, mid-range RPM though it's lower like 14psi though.

Thanks for the advice, maybe 17psi is good enough to start.

Also when I decrease timing anymore I get lots of boost creep in 4th and my EGTs go significantly higher.
