I have a walboro installed on my car and theres 4 wires going to a relay. I bought the car with it installed and I was looking for a more simply way to wire it in as it is now hard wired to a switch..importdude wrote:its only 2 wires
use the supplied crimps
Knowing the number of wires doesn't help much if you don't know where they go
I'm gonna re-wire mine soon (busy at school) So I'll post how that goes maybe with some pictures if I get it working properly.

With that being said how is everyone else wiring their units in?EstoMax wrote:maybe your car has the walbro 'hard-wired' in. If there is a relay the stock fuel pump power lines might be triggering the relay, which get power straight from the battery to the fuel pump.

If there are 2 main wires, one for power and ground, where should I splice the power wire so that it gets 12 volts when the key is on?

afaik most of us have it wired conventionally.
i don't know what you have there.. take pictures or something before i can advise you further. If you have a relay, then the stock wires coming from the front of the car would power the relay trigger and there would b a wire from the battery (with an inline fuse) going to the relay and another one going to the fuel pump, and from the fuel pump a wire going to ground.

Haha. I had the same question but it'll be fine as long as you have the connectors crimped and insulated. The reasoning being that gasoline is a poor conductor therefore a good insulator. This means that current does not travel well through it so there's no worry of a spark unless the power line comes into direct contact to a ground.

thanks for the writeup.. I'm glad to hear that the long sock is in my current tank and that I can use it on the walbro. I ended up ordering an S13 pump for my S14 because people don't seem to have S14 stuff and I was starting to get a little wary about not having a sock that goes long enough.
looks easy cheesy like the S13 was (back when i had one).

I followed this to the T and when I was done, I turned the key on and it just sounds like the pump is free wheeling. I cranked it and no start. ****. I take it back out and noticed the black and red wires are in the wrong pins. The pump has markings and the black wire was going to the (+) side. FACK. So I recrimp the wires red going to black and red/green going to red. Then it worked. Just a warning to follow the pump markings and not the wire color. Hope this helps people in the future. I did the install with the tank out cause I was swapping then ended up doing it on the car, cause the tank was installed.
