So I blew my 2nd setup of ring lands on my KA-T setup, which had factory cast pistons and rods. I will be upgrading to forged rods and pistons and will keep factory bore, I'm on a itch to go high compression as in 10.5:1 forged pistons vs a lower compression ratio so I can spool my turbo a bit quicker with lower boost and play with the timing less vs a low compression high boost setup. I'm actually searching for a lower broader power band because I drift in my S chassis. Any experience with high compression low boost setup people around here? The reason I ask is because I look everywhere on this forum and literally almost everyone is running 9:1 or lower compression ratio setup, I understand it's more forgiving but these are forged pistons and if I blow a 10.5:1 setup due to detonation it would actually probably be the same for a set of forged 9:1 ratio. So if anyone has been through building a high comp ka-t please charm in.
I actually got a new full counterweighted crankshaft with bearing to help with my oil needs so that part is safe. This 10.5 should actually produce more useable broad TQ band than compared to a ka24de with lower compression, and honestly this is why I went KA-T over the SR setup.
Being a KA-T guy is hard but I'm striving to get there and prove all these SR fanboy guys that a KA is underrated!

I'm interested in this setup as well. I planned on 10.5:1 and E85, that way timing isn't necessarily a factor. Subbed for more info!

I'm interested in this as well. I'm almost done building my bottom end with 10.6:1 compression with forged internals... Hopefully be turbo-ed by November.

get it bored over. especially if youve already honed it b4. this will get your piston to wall clearences done right not just close enough.

Re: Drifting High Compression Turbo KA24DE
I talked to a pretty reputable engine builder, and his tuner about high compression and corn. I was advised that even running e85, they noticed a pretty even tradeoff of heat between high compression / low boost / e85, and lower compression / higher boost / conventional gasoline. They recommended running e85 on 9.5:1 with more boost as this allows the fuel to cool and thus realizing the benefits of e85 (cooler combustion, more timing)

Re: Drifting High Compression Turbo KA24DE
ive really been wanting to try a set of arias 10.8:1 SOHC pstons in my de for some insane compression numbers. see if that will be enough to break the N/A record of 217whp with my built head and 100 octane, only problem I see is timing would be very dangerously picky with clearances.

If you're not going e85 I wouldn't suggest the 10.5. The small gain in spool/power isn't worth the heat & less knock resistance imo...
