Megasquirt timing maps...

Post by alx954 »

Hey guys, I was wondering if some of you guys running
megasquirt can post up their boosted ignition maps??
I got a stock 96' KA in my corolla that's almost done and
just wanted to see some timing maps for this type of motor.
Thanks

Here are a couple for you... The first one is from someone elses Megasquirt thread found here:
http://www.msruns.com/viewtopic.php?t=22422
It is a VERY conservative map. Below zero boost (~100 kPa) is similar to stock timing and beyond that is retarded by approx. 1 degree per pound of boost. Maybe a good (or at least safe) place to start.

The next map is what I currently have programmed on my ECU and it is more on the other end of the spectrum. Far more advanced than other maps I've seen and possibly more harmful to your engine. It is based on stock timing largely in vacuum and is retarded by approx. 1/2 degree per pound beyond that. It is NOT dyno tuned and I'm NOT recommending you run it. It is simply here for reference. I was running a .75 per pound retard before this and have run this map for a couple of weeks. I did ten consecutive 13 second 1/4 miles with this map and nothing blew up.

I run 8.8 CR, forged pistons and conservative fueling. This map could grenade your engine, so use at your own peril.

This is what I am currently running, a work in progress, as of the past 8 months. FYI I am running High compression ratio and Low boost (10.7:1 @ 7 psi) I do not recommend using this table unless you are boosting 7psi or less.

My old setup:

- PDM-Racing stage 2 Tri-flo cams
- Supertech valvetrain
- Eagle rods, Wiseco pistons
- AMS fuel rail, 75lb injectors
- MS2Extra standalone
- Everything is for sale!
